Al, I am assuming you are THEE Al from around my parts?

Man, Ive been here on harmony central for a couple years and never knew you were here, or that there was even a singers forum.

I pretty much stay over in Electric guitarts, even though I am still more of a bass player.

I'm sure you remember me. I was the bass player for a band called Midnite and took a few lessons from you, but we spent a bit of time at gigs and whatnot back in the day and I made a slight mess out of painting the inside of your house.:lol::facepalm::facepalm:

Anyway, I hope I got the right Al here, but it would be pretty coincidental if you are not him.

Send me a P.M., or just stop by here to say hi, or go to any of my band's sites and check out what I'm doing these days. Are you still the vocal guru to the stars?

Love to hear from you.

Dave.

Well, I checked out the avatar, and it IS you, Al.

How you doing? I guess you will check in here eventually.

Wow. All you guys and gals in the singer's forum are lucky to have a forum that polices itself. It appears that our residemt mod, is not around very often.

By the way, Al is a GREAT guy and an extremely talented vocal instructor. I dont know about these days, because we sort of lost touch, and I am out of that loop these days, but back in the late 80's & 90's the Tampa Bay area had one of the hottest scenes in metal, hard rock, hairband music on the planet. Tampa/Brandon Florida was a Mecca for heavy music. We didnt reralize we were special at the time, we just thought that the whole planet had a great heavy scene like we did, so we didnt realize it was unusual. We eventually realized it was something special and a bit of a phenominon back then.

Well, anyway, Al Koehn was THEE man around the area and even nationally known as the man to go to for vocal intruction. It was almost like a certificate of credibility to be one of Al's students. It seemed that everyone who was anyone was one of Al's students. You go to any given top notch club, show, or concert, on any given night in the Bay area, and more often than not, at least one of the guys/gals in the band would be a student of Al's. These werent amateurs either. He tought plenty of world class vocalists, many of them with signed national acts. It very well might still be that way today, I dont know. I just lost touch over the years and have been out of that game until recently, so, not sure what Al is doing these days. But, I can tell you for a fact, that when Al is giving advice, anyone would be doing themselves a huge favor to take whatever he says very seriously. He is a complete pro and really knows his craft.

Still looking forward to hearing from you, Al.

This forum is very lucky to have you here.

Yep, even up here in Jacksonville we knew about Al Koehn. We used to go to Tampa and even down to Miami to catch bands (Do you remember "Aligna Vagina"? Greatest bandname and logo ever!) During that time period, Florida was producing some amazing bands and the scene in Tampa was unreal. Even in Jax you could go out any day of the week and catch a metal band playing.... nd that is saying a lot because this place is almost dead these days.... not quite but there is no real "scene".. that is, unless you want to pay to play a 30 minute slot with 5 other bands by buying and reselling tickets.

Otherwise - you're playing covers.

Dave, What a "blast from the past". I will contact you personally to catch up on things. Thanks much to you, Consume and others for the accolaids. As the moderator I do check on the forum often to see if my input is needed. This has evolved into a terrific group with several extremely knowledgeable members who contribute information and advice which I very often agree with.

Many threads, such as "who do you think is the best singer" I have nothing to add to, while others demand my attention and contribution. Although I am monitoring the group regularly, I will try to make my presence known more often, if only by supporting information I agree with and expressing my disagreement with other submissions. Always feel free to contact me specifically with questions, etc.

Al
