I enjoy singing to myself and want to get better for myself.

so unless a record executive drives by one day when im singing in the shower with the window open and offers me fortune and fame Ill just keep my little hobby to myself. With that said what volume do you guys sing at? If im singing quietly and high and cant keep anything in chest voice. When I belt out the high notes or any decent sounding note it seems like I am really loud. But that seems to be the only way I can correctly hit a note. Am I the only one?

Hmm. It sounds like you haven't developed much support. You're probably just supporting the loud notes more. (I'm guessing, having never heard you.)

In my experience—and, that of just about everyone I've discussed the issue with—softer notes require more support. (Don't read support as pushing or forcing.) Your body is probably only giving the belts the support all of your dynamic range needs.

yeah , I might consider voice lessons in the near future. Ive been told i have an awesome singing voice from people that I didnt realize were listening. (one day didnt realize my roommate was home when i was going full out hahaha). My vocal Idol is Myles Kennedy and I can often hit the notes he does in many songs, most easily a D5 as seen in a variety of songs although not as powerful and prolonged but easily heard and clear none the less(Im going by what people have posted as Ive taught myself guitar and piano by ear without matching a knowledge of notes to a letter although I can match notes to different notes in different songs very accurately when I hear them over the radio). occasionally others, some days more easily than others.

Don't mistake presence for volume. If you do find your resonance you don't need to push that hard and "belt" anything. Remember, belting is not a correct or desirable way of singing, that is if you care about vocal health and tone quality.
