Members im hurting alot
Alright, first off, I have no interest in music. I looked up some vocal exercises to get rid of my really deep monotone voice. So, I just wanted to put more emotion into my voice. So I try them, but now my throat ALWAYS HURTS. Its been like this for a good amount of weeks. Any tips on how to stop this pain? Id rather have my old monotone voice than all this pain.
Members ZenFly
A couple of possibilities. You have a sinus infection ...post nasal drip causes sore throats that are aggravated by usage (singing). You have a nasal polyp that also causes post nasal drip. You need to warm up before singing. You need to change your diet to avoid milk products and sugar. You smoke? Drink? You need to have adequate monitors when singing. You need a pro vocal coach to make sure you aren't abusing your voice. "Looking up vocal exercises" is not the same as being coached. Good luck! Members blkmonday
first off....singing should not hurt if its being done correctly. unless your overdoing it.im not sure the level of hurt your speaking of...but you may want to see an ear nose and throat doctor and get a quick checkup because there may be something affecting your ability to sing in comfort.what type of music are you singing? that may be a factor too.if your starting off...try singing easy songs in your range. dont go right for the hard stuff.personally as a proffesional vocalist who has never had a lesson in his life, i taught myself to sing listening and harmonizing with old beatles records. the soft and gentle harmonies taught me to listen to my voice without hurting it while building up stamina and power. i always go back to those old songs to remind myself that sometimes being simple is being a good solid singer.definately stop singing untill you get checked out by a proffesional...you dont want to permanatly damage your voice. Members blkmonday
ok i just re-read your post and realize your not looking to sing but just improve your speaking voice.there are many techniques...start with the ear nose and throat doctor to check your health and then ask for a recomendation to a speech therapist if the dr cant recommend one there are many out there just let your fingers do the walking so to speak.....and if at the end of the day your speech is still monotone...so be it. being an individual and being unique is what life is all about. if someone cant see past that...who needs em

Members Laroosco
only one other person replyibng seems to have read your post or they would have seem that you aren't singing. Speech therapy is the best way to figure out what's going on.
