Members djnastique
yo, yo, yo what's up people, i'm new to the forum! here's the skinny:i'm looking to buy the Torq Software and already have an M-Audio Ozonic MIDI Controller. Honestly, i'd like to just buy the software until i've got the cash money for the Xponent. any suggestions or personal experience with Torq? thanks
Gus Lozada
Well... you do not have to buy TORQ. It comes for free with the Xponent. I'll get mine on the next 4 days Feel free to ask me any questions you may have regarding the software.
Members toddlans
It's buggy. Maybe it'll be fine for you with the Xponent, but when controlling Torq with vinyl through the conectiv interface, its buggy. I kind of wish I would have gone for Serato. Though I don't know if it's better I'm still waiting to try it. Oh and if the convertors aren't any better than in the Conectiv, they're going to be noisy. And yeah the software only comes with the hardware I believe.
Gus Lozada
Buggy? What do you mean? The response with vinyls is very good, compared to any other thing out there. Given the case, check your latency, cabling AND your needles. By the way, the computer must be a good, fast one.
Members toddlans
No, not the response (or latency). It's great, I was surprised that even though I'm really used to vinyl there was no adjustment to be made. It feels just like real vinyl. However, vinyl doesn't suddenly crash when digging through your crate. Despite everything possible to optimize two different systems, I've had the same problems. I've also made sure to have clean records and new stylii that are tracking with the proper amount of force, I've adjusted the sensitivity settings in Torq etc. It freezes and crashes randomly while browsing through various folders (it's random not always the same folder or even drive). The display time is never right, it will randomly jump 30 seconds ahead even though the correct audio is playing (for example the record will play fine at say 2:30 but the display time will bounce back and forth from 3:00 back to 2:35 and so forth. This doesn't really matter to me because I don't look at the screen much, I use cues on the records just as I would with vinyl. None of the "sort by" buttons work. For instance you should be able to sort your files by BPM once Torq has read them and created a .TQD file, but none of the "sort by" buttons work at all. I've contacted customer support about these issues and they told me various ways to optimize the computer (most of which were already done), and they seemed completely baffled about the "sort by" thing. I've done about 4 different fresh windows installations on 2 different machines since about Sep or Oct of 2006, and it simply has been buggy for me. Don't get me wrong when it works I love it and it will work for a couple hours sometimes without a problem, but I wouldn't use it live at this point. These are just my experiences though, but hey that's what the board is for right.
