  1. Ive use dthe CAD and the Behringers extensively and I can say they are VERY good.. If you can hit the 200 mark go grab yourself 2 of them--- NOPthing like an acoustic guitar recorded in stereo..
  2. Check out the behringer b1- Its about 100 bucks and its not "terrible" - Ive been using a pair of these for guitars- drum over heads and ive used it for vocals too. I have also been using them as room mics for guitar cabinets. I wouldnt say all the Mics in this proce range are "terrible". Maybe terrible for a recording studio making money off the records that are being recorded, Even for that I would not call them terrible... But if your parents are buying this for you and your on that type of budget Im sure that you are doing some recording in your bedroom or something - Definitley not terrible for that. I would advise against using an SM-57 for acoustic guitar- VOX you can get away with depending on the singing style. Some other mics that come to mind that should serve you well on a budget are: CAD gxl220 MXL 770 What are you using for MIC Pre's? Good luck bro!
