  5. emery sound superbaby or microbaby. swap out whatever tubes you like and the amp transforms itself to completely new organic tube sound. hand wired boutique and not too expensive.
  6. Yes can someone explain the stages of the build process?
  7. So it's making tube distortion more like solid state distortion... lol
  8. "Honestly, no trolling here...why a boost for an amp with tons of gain? " because many guitar players really enjoy having little boxes on the floor in front of them that they can step on.
  9. Do you guys ever just lower your amps or better yet use low volume tube amps (5 watts and below) to jam with a drummer and a bass player? We've done this and its great. The drummer doesnt play like Kieth Moon...He uses brushes and just tries to play in the pocket. The bass player is nice and low volume too. With this type of playing you really tighten your sound up because everything is so clear - especially the vocals. Its like listening to a really good hifi.
  10. Sure John Mayer is a great player but his music is so {censored}ing boring. John Lennon belongs on this list. He was a phenomenal rhythm player.
  11. sorry to ttt this old thread but its very interesting. i have a semery superbaby that has a feature that lets you bypass the tone stack and take it out of the circuit. having played with all the options i definitely choose to turn the tone control off. it has a much richer and clearer sound without it.
  12. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Vox-DA5-Portable-Amplifier-?sku=482065 they come in colors too or maybe the 15 or 30 watt version for something louder.
  13. im guessing you probally play jazz rock, classic rock, blues plug directly into a quality boutique amp with good tubes. stand in front of it and hit some nice open chords and you will here complex harmonic overtones that get thinner and more brittle every time you add more crap into the signal chain. i really wanted love the maxxon analog deley i got and i had to send it back. obviously theres many great classic songs that have signature guitar parts that require pedals but for pure organic clear and rich sound nothing beats a pure path.
