  2. WINTER NAMM, ANAHEIM, CA, January 24th, 2013 - Korg announces the newest addition to the Pitchblack family of tuners, the Pitchblack Portable Handheld Polyphonic Tuner for Guitar and Bass. This new, compact tuner offers convenient tuning by enabling all strings to be tuned simultaneously. Despite its compact size, the Pitchblack Portable offers high visibility in any environment via a large, horizontal LED display which runs the entire width of the tuner body. Professional features include a String Seeker function, which automatically detects the string that’s being tuned, plus a wide tuning/detection range. An integrated cable checker allows cables to be quickly and easily checked for functionality. A buffered output is also included to ensure superior rejection of any external noise. In addition to saving time and effort, polyphonic tuning is ideal for players using a floating tremolo system. With this type of system, one string going flat may make the other strings sound sharp. By displaying the tuning status of all strings at once, the Pitchblack Portable makes it easy to identify the troublesome string. The Pitchblack Portable’s extra-large display is also ideal for use in traditional single string tuning mode. In this mode, the display can be set to one of three selectable meter modes: Regular, Strobe, or Half Strobe. The Pitchblack Portable is housed in a road-ready, durable die-cast aluminum case for extra reliability. Color choices include Black, and for a limited time, Silver, as well as Red. The Korg Pitchblack Portable Handheld Polyphonic Tuner (PB04) will be available Spring 2013with a U.S. street price of $99.99 More product information is available at www.Korg.com
  3. WINTER NAMM, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, January 24, 2013 ––Blackstar Amplification is now offering their top-selling HT-5R & HT-1R guitar tube Amplifiers in Limited Edition Arctic White. The new models–HT-5RW combo, HT1-RW combo, HT-5RSW mini stack and HT-5RHW head with HT112RW cab–have a striking look that features an Arctic White covering with black piping and black grille cloth, as well as a white front panel with black metal knobs and chrome corners. Under the hood, these limited edition amps function the same as their original versions. The HT-5R amplifier offers real tube sound in a compact format. While the preamp uses a traditional 12AX7 tube, the power section uses the dual-triode 12BH7 tube wired in a push-pull circuit. This configuration produces the crunch and break-up characteristics of a traditional 100 Watt amp, delivering a sound rich in tube harmonics and compression even at the lowest volume levels. The two-channel (Clean and Overdrive) HT-5R comes complete with reverb, a channel-switching footswitch, and an additional Tone control on the Clean Channel. As with most other Blackstar amps, the patented Infinite Shape Feature (ISF) works with the three-band EQ to provide new tone-shaping control, enabling guitarists to easily and quickly create both U.K. and USA flavors of sound. For recording or practicing with headphones, the emulated speaker line output recreates the sonic character of either a 1x12" or a 4x12" speaker cabinet. The Series Effects Loop is equipped with a level switch to match the signal of nearly any external effect processor. A line input is included, allowing the player to jam along with a CD, MP3, etc. HT-1R is an ideal studio and practice amp. It packs all the tone and many of the innovative features of the award-winning HT-5 tube amp into a 1-Watt format. This includes the Infinite Shape Feature (ISF), which works with the three-band EQ to provide guitarists with new tone-shaping control, enabling them to quickly create both U.K. and USA flavors of sound. The Blackstar Arctic White amplifiers will be available February 2013 with U.S. Street pricing as follows: HT5RW combo – $499.99 HT1RW combo – $319.99 HT5RSW mini stack – $779.99 HT5RHW – $429.99 HT112RW cabinet – $219.99 For more information about Blackstar Amps, please visit www.blackstaramps.com
  4. Anaheim, CA, January 23, 2013 -- Daring Audio Inc, the leader in Professional Bass Pedals, today announces another new innovative High Definition (HD) model to broaden its product line. The Laser Cannon HD boasts 100\% analog circuitry, and has a high-headroom preamp with three optional distortion textures with a blend of silicon, germanium diodes and FET circuits. It features the Daring Audio hallmark design of “constant volume continuous wet/dry blend” capability between its two internal channels, allowing you to keep as much clean low end as you want. Announcing The Laser Canon HD The original Laser Cannon is particularly well respected for allowing continuous adjustment from overdrive to fuzz. Now, based on top artist feedback, the Laser Canon HD incorporates all these additional new features: • State Variable Filter allowing low-pass, high-pass and band-pass before and after the distortion circuit for optimal tone shaping. Two filters allow separate pre and post gain filtering for unique sounds without using separate EQ pedals. Now you can retain clean low end, or certain mid ranges, or high end frequencies -- and dial in as much distortion or fuzz on remaining frequencies. This is the first of it’s kind, like having a “Studio in a Pedal.” • Expansion of the Gain control, enabling line level signals for re-amping, in addition to passive and active basses. It covers the range from clean to mild tube-like overdrive, through distortion and all-out chaos fuzz. • Innovative Boost footswitch with controllable circuit placement alternatives to affect output volume, input gain or even distortion amount. This allows for clean boost, distortion change or blended boost. The boost footswitch has a separate Level control that applies only to the boost at whichever circuit location is used. The Lason Canon HD is available in two finishes, black and aluminum, and will be released in March 2013. Find out more at http://www.daringaudio.com Daring Audio New Artists include : Nikki Monninger, bassist for Silversun pickups, Bill Dickens, session bassist Angeline Saris, bassist for Narada Michael Walden Band, Gretchen Menn Band Kevin Knight, bassist for Damage Inc, premier Metallica tribute band Marc Ramsey, bassist for Gravy Boat Daring Audio will be at the 2013 NAMM Show in booth #1377 in Anaheim, California.

  6. Radial Voco-Loco Vocal Preamp and Effects Loop The Voco-Loco is a unique device that lets you add guitar effects pedals to a live vocal performance! The design begins with a high performance, low noise mic preamp that is equipped with both high and low EQ settings. The Voco-Loco generates 48V phantom power, thus making it work with both dynamic and condenser mics. The signal is then sent through a send & receive loop where various guitar pedals may be connected. One could for instance add distortion, delay or reverb and control the effect using a footswitch. The innovative design lets you choose between fully wet effects or a wet-dry mix to retain the natural sound of the voice. The effects can of course be bypassed for normal clean voice operation. Retail: $300 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE Radial StageDirect Active DI The StageDirect is a direct box with a footswitch, designed for musicians who need to mute their guitar while performing on stage. This can be for tuning or for exchanging one instrument with another. The active design gives you the choice of either 48V phantom or 15VDC operation. A mute switch turns the direct box and stage amp outputs off while sending a signal to the tuner. One merely stomps on the footswitch to tune or to grab another instrument. This is particularly useful for lead vocalists who may use an acoustic guitar for a particular song as turning off the guitar eliminates runaway feedback and resonance. Retail: $250 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE Radial PZ-DI Orchestral Direct Box The PZ-DI is a J-class direct box that is equipped with a 3 position load switch to accommodate orchestral instruments that employ piezo pickups (10meg), acoustic, electric and bass guitars that employ magnetic pickups (220k) and older low-output instruments (1meg). A variable high pass filter eliminates low frequency rumble and is used with the 180ᵒ polarity reverse to eliminate feedback. For active instruments, a low pass filter gently warms the top end. Retail: $260 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE SEE MORE ON THE PZ-DI Radial StageBug SB-1 Acoustic The StageBug SB-1 Acoustic is a direct box that has been optimized for acoustic guitar. This active DI features standard instrument input with a dedicated tuner out. This can also be used to feed an on-stage amp. A -10dB pad also enables the SB-1 to be used with higher output active sources such as active basses and keyboards. The balanced XLR output is used to feed the PA. This is equipped with a 180° polarity reverse to help tame hot spots on stage and reduce feedback. Best of all, the design is super compact so that it fits inside a guitar case pocket! This makes it easy to deploy anywhere! Retail: $80 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE SEE MORE ON THE STAGEBUG SB-1 Radial Cherry Picker Studio Preamp Selector When the artist participates in the mic and preamp selection, this makes them more comfortable and generally results in a better performance. The Cherry Picker employs 'straight wire', relay based switching to enable the engineer to instantly switch and compare up to 4 preamps. There are no transformers or buffers in the circuit. 48V phantom is generated internally to reduce switching noise and a mute switch makes changing mics easy. Retail: $400 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE SEE MORE ON THE CHERRY PICKER Radial Gold Digger Studio Mic Selector Designed to improve efficiency in the studio, the Gold Digger lets you compare up to 4 microphones and quickly switch between them using radio-style push-button selectors. The Gold Digger generates 48V phantom internally to reduce switching pops to an absolute minimum. To ensure 'straight wire' performance, there are no transformers or audio buffers in the signal path. To ensure a fair comparison, trim level controls allow the engineer to match the levels. Retail: $400 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE SEE MORE ON THE GOLD DIGGER Radial SixPack 6 Slot 500 Series Power Rack The SixPack is a desk-top power rack for 500 series modules that lets you mix and match up to six modules and safely power them to create a stereo channel strip or unique signal chain. The design begins with a heavy 14 gauge steel construction and baked enamel finish. This provides extra durability when moving the SixPack around the studio while also providing better shielding against stray magnetic fields. To reduce induced noise, the power supply is external and connects using a 5-pin locking XLR. To ensure positive contact, the module card-edge connector is mated to a double sided EDAC 15-pin receptacle that is 100\% compatible with the old API pin format. Retail: $550 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE SEE MORE ON THE SIXPACK Radial Powerhouse 10 Slot 500 Series Power Rack The Powerhouse is designed for studios that need maximum space for their collection of 500 series modules. This 10 slot power rack delivers 1600 milliamps of current for plenty of power. Rear panel connectivity includes XLRs and 1/4" plus a feed switch to connect one module into the next. A stereo link switch lets you tie together stereo-ready modules without having to solder. Each slot is also equipped with protective circuitry to guard against faulty modules. Retail: $1000 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE SEE MORE ON THE POWERHOUSE Radial Q4 Discrete Class-A Variable-state Parametric EQ Unlike other EQs that employ high gain chips and then mounds of negative feedback to control the circuit, the Q4 is 100\% discrete meaning that separate parts are used at each stage to generate gain and control run-away. This unique class-A 500 series module reduces negative feedback to an absolute minimum for a more open and natural sound. Four bands deliver high and low shelving with lo-mid and hi-mid semi-parametric control. It sounds amazing! Retail: $700 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE SEE MORE ON THE Q4 Radial PreComp Combination Mic Preamp and Compressor The PreComp is a 500 series module that combines a high performance mic preamp with a fully variable, full function VCA compressor. One merely connects the mic, sets the input level and then the compression for instant results! This compact all-in-one module is particularly beneficial for high density setups such as live recording where you want to capture the natural sound of the instrument while ensuring it does not go into the red. Those equipped with a Radial Workhorse can use the Omniport to access the preamp and compressor separately using them as two separate modules. Retail: $350 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE Radial PreMax Combination Mic Preamp and 3 Band EQ The PreMax is a combination low-noise mic preamp and 3 band equalizer jam packed into a single-wide 500 series module. The 'all-in-one' channel strip will be of particular interest to those who require greater density in their production studios or on-air radio broadcast inputs. The feature set includes Radial's super quiet Accustate input control that auto-pads the input while optimizing signal-to-noise. A high pass filter eliminates resonance while a 180° polarity reverse lets you match stereo mics for phase parity. A front panel instrument input lets you turn on the Omniport (which in this case is optimized as an instrument input) for direct recording of bass, guitar or keyboards. Retail: $350 USD FULL PRESS RELEASE Radial Tossover Fully Variable Dual Band Filter The Tossover is a 500 series module that lets you apply low-pass, high-pass or band-pass filters to the signal chain. It features high and low frequency ranges with choice of 12dB, 18dB, or 24dB per octave slopes. Each band may be used separately or combined in series. 11. A tone hound and perfectionist, John has embedded in his very soul the ultimate tone for the classic, double-cut 3-single coil pickup guitar. His knowledge and Trev Wilkinson's design expertise have created what is John’s ultimate personal guitar. With a two piece centre-joined American alder body coupled to a Canadian hard rock maple neck and fingerboard, the tonal heart of the JV is a balanced, calibrated set of three custom-wound, vintage voiced, single coil alnico V pickups wound to an authentic Trev Wilkinson recipe. As ever, there’s the Fret-King twist. On the JV, it's the hidden Power-coil™, which eliminates hi-gain noise, making the pickups just that bit hotter, even with the power backed off, and maintaining that all-important single coil tone. Meanwhile, the Wilkinson WVP vibrato system, with its heat-treated solid steel saddles, steel block and E-Z Lok locking machineheads, ensures pitch stability and rock solid tuning. In Original Classic Burst finish, with gold hardware and parchment scratchplate, the Fret-King JV looks as good as it sounds, and, as John himself says: "It's the sound I've had in my head all these years – the best guitar I’ve ever played!" 15. Anaheim, CA––At Winter NAMM 2013, ADAM Audio is introducing the F Series professional monitors with signature tweeter technology that provides unsurpassed performance at the most accessible prices in the company’s history. The new F Series consists of the F5 and F7 nearfield monitors and SubF dedicated subwoofer. Both the F5 and F7 employ the company’s new ART tweeter that provides performance similar to ADAM’s acclaimed X-ART tweeter in a smaller size to fit the new form factor with the same pristine clarity and unique resolution as its predecessor and slightly less efficiency and maximum SPLs. The F5 Designed for smaller rooms, the compact F5 features the new ART tweeter, which is powered by a 25W (rms) A/B amplifier, and a 5” midwoofer also powered by a 25W (rms) A/B amplifier. The F7 The F7 continues ADAM’s most popular configuration using technology that makes it affordable to the widest range of users. It is equipped with the new ART tweeter, driven by a 40 watt A/B amplifier for the unsurpassed clarity and precision ADAM is known for worldwide. Its 7” woofer and a 60W (rms) A/B amplifier produce an exceptionally low and tightly defined bass response. The SubF A small yet powerful subwoofer, the SubF features a robust 8" woofer with driven by a 150W (rms) PWM (pulse width modulation) power amplifier. The amp stays cool while handling maximum power levels, even when sustained. Several controls to adjust the subwoofer are located on the rear panel: a volume knob (-∞ to +6 dB), a control for the crossover frequency, and a phase switch. The SubF is an ideal match for both the F5 and the F7 monitors wherever a deeper and more powerful bass response is required. Inputs & Controls Several controls provided to adjust the F5 and F7 monitors to the environment are located on the rear panel: 2 room EQs for the high (>5kHz) and the low (<300Hz) frequencies as well as a volume knob (-∞ to +6 dB). In addition, there is an 85Hz high pass filter to facilitate the use of a subwoofer. There are both XLR combo (jack) and RCA connectors on the rear panel as well. All F Series products will be available in the United States in January 2013. MSRP for F Series is: F5: $249.99 each -- $499.98 a pair F7: $399.99 each -- $799.98 a pair SubF: $399.99 For more information about ADAM Audio USA, please stop by Booth #7111 (Arena) at the Anaheim Convention Center, call us at 516.681.0690, or click to www.adam-audio.com About ADAM Audio: Combining extensive experience and research in the field of speaker systems with their revolutionary ART and X-ART tweeter designs, physicist Klaus Heinz founded ADAM Audio in 1999. 17. RME Fireface 800. It is not cheap, but I have had 0 problems with it after ~2 years of use. For cheaper interfaces, I'd guess M-Audio likely has some Vista 64 drivers. Maybe check their support forums. M-Audio does indeed have interfaces with V64 drivers. I've been using the Fast Track Ultra with Pro Tools 8 on my V64 machine (a Dell 530) and have had no problems. I'm also running AmpliTube and ReValver plug-ins successfully with this setup.
  18. Interesting. I am not up on everything. M powered devices are new to me. I should look into what you are saying, though I don't fully understand it. "M powered devices translates" to M-Audio interfaces that run Pro Tools M-Powered. M-Audio makes a variety of audio interfaces that work with all native-based DAWs (Cubase, Logic, Sonar, etc.). But many of these devices, because M-Audio is owned by Avid (which also owns Digidesign, the maker of Pro Tools) will also run a special edition of Pro Tools called "M-Powered." Until M-Audio came along, the only way you could run Pro Tools was to buy a Digidesign-made interface (Mbox, 002, etc.). So if you want to run Pro Tools, you can consider buying an M-Audio device that includes or supports Pro Tools M-Powered. As to your "Roland workstation not being professional." I'm sorry your neighbor was rude about it, but it's important that you know that there's a certain truth to what he said. A Roland workstation is a wonderful music-making and recording tool, but most people in the recording community don't consider it a "professional level recording platform" in the same way a Pro Tools HD system is. The essence of his message is true, even if the delivery was insensitive. That doesn't mean you can't create great art or the next hit song on the Roland, but in the strict sense of a pro system, the Roland does not qualify. Pro Tools HD does. (And so do many other systems, too.) Pro Tools M-powered is not the top of the line Pro Tools version (that's what HD is), but it's a very good way to get acquainted with the Pro Tools interface, and many of the features are the same or similar. I suggest you go to Digidesign's website and watch the videos on Pro Tools 8. And check out M-Audio's site to see the variety of their interface offerings.
