  1. Cutting edge NoBridge© with the new NoStrings© system? Looking good thus far!
  2. I’ve had the J-45 and Southern Jumbo for a few months now, love the J-45, like the SJ. Neck comfort better on the J-45, and the sound..just a lot different than the standard. I’ll keep it, SJ will go consignment at Dave’s I think. Martin Authentic 1939 D-18, aged, not aged, another one with a great neck, 1-11/16”, and again, sound very different than standard. This is on the radar, but the SJ and maybe 0-18 will fund it. If I can find one under 5K, rare but possible.
  3. Jim? Jim? Mr. Pulos? This thing on…?
  4. And you have Santa Cruz Parabolic Tension Strings, expensive little wires (didn’t sound good on my old 00-17) developed I believe by Roger Siminoff. Speaking of, he’s got Straight Up Strings, same concept, half the cost of those Santa Cruz, and they do sound good on my old 00-17, plus J-45, and 000-28. It’s possible I’m just allergic to expensive though. https://straightupstrings.com so there’s that! But I’m not an artist, thus not an artist endorsement…and Scott wants to welcome you to the Stringjoy Family, Roger doesn’t even mention family in his “about” page, the heathen. But he’s 5$ cheaper, so let’s go worship trees.
  5. I’m a bit late, you most likely have a guy, but I’d ask at the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum, I think they know every good luthier in every state.
  6. Maybe lock these old threads and make the first posters start their own? It’s a thought. Although one guy put up his first this week thinking the forum was the returns department.. I had a Morris F style mandolin once, it was a beaut.
  7. I’m sorry, I can’t take it right now.
  8. Oldest I could find to dredge up. Hope it’s not agin th rools…
  9. See? There’s hope! 9 in a row since last time. This HAS to be the longest 1-poster conversation in the bunch. Thank you, Carlos!
  10. He sez 5 days later🤣. But hey, that 1942 Gibson Custom Shop J-45, Southern Jumbo, ‘34 Jumbo, Advanced Jumbo, J-35, take your pick, these are some of the best things coming out of the guitar world today. I would encourage anyone reading to seek one out and play it.
  11. But hey, it was nice having this discussion, thank you all for saying your piece.
  12. SEE?!?! My gosh. There’s hope for my Gibson post above if I wait 16 years? Jesus, I may be dead, but life goes on. Encouraging in a twisted way. And thank you @garthman for keeping hope alive. How are things in the UK? Is it sunny or still dull and wet. It is here. Spring sucks this year. It just frigging poured and we have snow in the forecast tomorrow..
  13. @daddymack -Oh, you laugh….🤣. Well, gotta admit, me too. All guitar talk seems to be AGF or the UMGF. there’s..what..3 guys that keep an eye on sh** here, and don’t contribute. WHICH, I might add, I’m one. I don’t either, so my bad. But there’s hope! In 5 or 6 years, someone will ask a question in THIS VERY TOPIC, STARTED BY MOI, as their first post!
  14. Man, I think Political Party is keeping Harmony Central going. Not just my post, but feck, all the topics here. A name change is in order, Political DisHarmony Central maybe?
  15. https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Collection/acoustic-custom-shop-historic Haven’t been wowed by a guitar in ages, played some of these and I’m a convert. Now I just need the money… Yeah, Gibson has always played fast and loose with their specs, these are pretty close. I think the J-35 I played weighed in around 4#, all of them very light, and each one just had that sound you’d expect from a 4-5K guitar.
  16. It’s a product of the internet age, can’t find one to play, but dig the look, buy it, sell it. Or eat return shipping. I ended up taking a 200$ loss. It’s not that it was a dog or uncomfortable, it played nice, sounded ok, just didn’t do it, maybe because it was trying to be a Gibson. Speaking of, I have had opportunity to test the new Gibson Historics, 1942 Banner SJ, 34 Jumbo, the Advanced Jumbo and 36 J-35. I think the torrified tops make a huge difference, those are special, AND rather pricey. Haven’t played the 42 Banner J-45 yet.
  17. Got one, sold one, don’t have one. nice guitar, comfortable neck, decent sound, didn’t love.
  18. Lol, there’s plenty of criticism on Martins there. Judging by “kodokandron’s” post above, it’s not the criticism, but the inability to be a civil person.
  19. Yeah, list is 2799, Elderly offered free shipping.. yep, those days are done for now. Well, on the plus side, I have 2 Nationals on consignment that I won’t be out on, and the shop has one coming in, so win/win. I’m of the opinion that it’s sort of an homage to the L-00, at least that was the impression I got from an interview with CFM. Already have a 00-17, love the look of the Gibson, but never liked how the neck felt or the sound. CEO ticks the boxes!
  20. Hey, off subject a bit, but how long has the place been nearly deserted? No offense or troll intended.
  21. Ha, no the CEO-7, homage to the L-00. You should see one, very nice guitar in the looks category, have only heard a bunch of YouTubes, and haven’t played one yet. https://www.martinguitar.com/guitars/custom-special-editions/CEO-7.html
  22. Getting the jones on for one. 2799 list, are discounts still a thing?
  23. Then...maybe it was a cry for more moderation?
