  1. OK, I get the no-love Vertex vibe, so of the 9v battery powered pedals: •MOJO HAND DMBL •MOJO HAND EXTRA SPECIAL •MAD PROFESSOR SIMBLE •JRAD THE DUDE (v2) •ROWIN which is the sure winner going into a clean rig? All the YT videos are all pumped up, & I'm not sure of their platform. I want to go from super clean to Dumblesque....Thnx again
  2. Yes, knowingly & painfully so, & not insulting in the least... But seriously, thanks for the advice, & as 'the man' says "Confidence IS sexy!!"
  3. Greetings, After a brief but thorough YT search, I'm super drawn to the original Vertex Ultraphonix Overdrive V1, 3 knobs... the MKII is also attractive but I like simple & effective... What I'm not certain of is if these are starting off on a Clean platform, & that pedal is the source of that cool harmonic grunge, & that it's not just a boost that's pushing a clipping amp into further OD... My platform will be be squeaky glean & I want thebpedaplvtp to it's thing on its own.... And if it takes a 9v battery... I'm getting mixed answers from the Ebay & Reverb seller,,, So either tiger toast or Vertex changed it up??? The Beekeeper is also cool, but mire that I care to spend, & way too many controls.. Any help is gratefully accepted, & my cap is under 200 bucks, & battery powered would be nice,& let's focus on this particular original MKI version on the left... Thnx in advance 🕉
  4. G'day all~ Well, I've really gone & done it now, hoping to build & fulfill some sort of fantasy rig for guitar. Not quite sure what preamp to go with, SMS or FYD, this could go one of 2 ways.... My question is, is w/o totally breaking the bank, what are the most robust, reliable, & best sounding 6L6, 7581, KT66, or what the chassis is labeled, 1614's,,, & what, if any, major differences might there be between these commonly coveted power valves? Thanks you all in advance, & be well & keep rockin'!!
  5. Thanks DaddyM,, It sounds like a rather solid endorsement, especially if I get just the head to keep space, & at a 5-600$ price, w/the 6 button pedal... The YT videos are certainly convincing but not always to be depended upon.... Controlled feedback pedals you have in mind would be?? Thnx, Kenny 🕉
  6. Hi all~ Okay, lay it on me,,, As far as cleans go, is it fair to match this up against let's say a Deluxe Reverb, or even a Twin, & able to emulate any tube amp with lots of headroom? I've listened to all the YT's until I'm up all night, but before I try to locate a local dealer, is the amp capable of those sweet Strat 2, 4, positions s ounds? My only experience with solid state is in the audio'phool' sector, where I had 600wpc from a Classé amp pushing 2 bass towers at 4 ohms.... But since I was 8, it's always been tubes, and I'm looking to see & hear what all the mystique is all about... The bands I've seen using them sounded excellent, & not at all sterile from my vantage point across a smokey barroom..... My application would more than likely be to get a nice clean sound w/a 2-12 cabinet, or as a 1x12 combo ... It's overdrive sounds are kinda acceptable but not tubey cool, & SS amps are probably not capable of controlled feedback, right? So that leaves the clean options up for debate in a totally gigable sized footprint... Thanks in advance 🕉
  7. Thanks, as always, DADDY,,, but I require 1",,, that's 25mm....
  8. Hi all,,, Dimarzio is not shipping only polepieces at this time, so I'm looking for a source of (according to Dmz) 10-32 1" gold polepieces for my SDS-1's. What I'm not certain of if they're fine or coarse threading, & where to get...? Thnx in advance for all assistance~ Be well, stay safe!!
  9. Greetings,, This in my wonderful rescue, a '71 Harmony MARQUIS, that I put new pups in, opened up & cleaned out both switches, & got it working great,,, Sounds amazing, BUT when I roll the tone pot down, not a whole lot happens until you get to 2... Basically, it's either in or out,, akin to some strange taper I once encountered with a linear pot where I was not getting a smooth sweep,,,, I swapped the pot out, changed the cap, & my diagram is exactly what's under the hood. Is there another way or place for the tone cap to go that would address this anomaly?? Thnx in advance...
  10. Hiya,, a buddy mentioned to me that he uses their standard flat interconnects, and I was considering either their Pure-Gold in the High Performance ones. Since I need only 4 inch lengths, I was wondering if the slightly thicker HP ones are too bulky & less flexible, being not so ideal to bend & twist...? You can see that my devices are staggered as to allow me more space on the pedalboard... Thnx in advice!! 🕉
  11. And walk i did~ thnx🕉🎵🎵🎸🕯
  12. Greetings,, The BOSS ME series of multi-FX's,,,, just to get my daughter up and running,,,, Before I start feeding her some of my primo pedals, is anything from this fine family of FXs any good, for what they are and for its immediate purpose?? Reliable, fairly flexible and ease if use?, and is that an actual Wah on some of the models?? Reminds me of that non-pedal foot-rest in your car, for your left foot? I used to own something much this 40 yrs ago, but that was then, and hopefully we've evolved for the better? Thnx all🕯🕊🕉🎵🎵🎸
  13. Greetings , After finally taking a sanding block to this treetrunk of a neck & leveling off about 2mm of thickness along the entire length, I really dig the naked wood. How I received it, was a beautiful & perhaps exotic, very dark color, as seen in the pictures. Now, after the final sanding with 800 grit, is it well advised to do something, not just to darken it up again, but more so to properly treat & protect the wood, which didn't real seem to be sealed or artificially stained when I got it. I do have a can of Tung Oil from a previous, successful neck project that involved a major staining first, & wanted to know if the protective benefits of Tung Oul finishing is what's called for & absolutely necessary? Regaining the dark luster is almost secondary as I really wouldn't mind keeping that beautiful grain, and/or keeping it the way it is, & a would go back & lightly sand the parts untouched.... Thoughts, common practices, or precautionary treatments welcome, or can I get away with just leaving it?? FWIW, I did apply some Tung on a small section, & it brought out some nice striping, but as more coats are applied, I fear might lose it.... Many thanks 🕉
  14. Greetings,,, I'm looking at pups that are allegedly Custon Shop 57/62's, but being only recently a Fender p/u guy, I don't know, & I don't remember ever seeing reddish back-plates on anything Fender....Many thanks in advance... 🕉I'm mildly suspicious~

    UL84's Good For ??

Hi all,, Not EL84s, but UL84's?? I have a Mullard quartet of them in a repurposed Great Britain made Bell & Howell 631 Amplifier, which has also 1-12ax7 & 1-EF86.... So, after owning, buying & playing all different amps since '63, (I was 8), I have never seen or heard of this tube. I had (perhaps) read that only 2 of the 4 were used in the amplifier section, & the other 2 were for the projector section... They all get hot, but I'm not getting anything volume-wise close to what, let's just say, 4 EL84's would get you.... Anyway, just curious about them, before I list it for sale.... Many thanks
  16. I'm sorry,, it's a set neck, & someone's freshman run at building.... neck is straight with the usual most minute bit of bow... Fine line between builder & luthier, huh?ॐ It plays great, neck is good, but those saddles are hanging on in height by 1 or no threading, & I don't want to compensate with a bigger bow... I'm really contemplating using this spare wrap-around & take it to the next & final level....????..
  17. Howdy all~ Before I fire up the forge & start laying into my spare bridged, is there another way to give some lift to my existing (pictured) tailpiece? My saddles are too high & I'm out of threading, & it simply looks not right.. & my hunch is to make some scrap usable so I can slip it under my existing Non-Trem plate for about 3mm of rise... Anything better and/or easier, & readily available online or in store,, Depot, Lowes? ? Thnx folks 🎸🎸🕉
  18. Good day all~ I'm having a helluva time finding a scheme for 2 single coils, 2 volumes, 1 tone, & a 3-way LP style switch. Many thanks in advance~
  19. Greetings,, I already own a TC Hall of Fame 2 (my 1st reverb ever), & I'm smitten with 2 particular sounds; the Shimmer & the verb w/pre-delay... I realize it's a VERY crowded room with waay tooo many choices out there, but for a pedal that excels & specializes in SHIMMER, I'm down to the TC Flouresence & possibly the Joyo Atmosphere. TC Elec. has been very good to me on stage & in the studio for 40+ yrs., & their Flouresence pedal seems truly, but not exclusively, geared to the shimmer-head,,,,me. I just caught a few videos on the Joyo, but I know nothing about them...Again, in a shimmer-based pedal, & anything that I might not be aware of, & very close to $100?? Is the TC made for me, or what? I hear the angels calling~~ Many thanks, again....
  20. Greetings again,, just picked up this 70's Orlando MIJ guitar that someone who knows less than me, messed with.... If you check the underbelly, you'll see where the grounds for each p/u go to those screws that hold the switch in place... I've circled the corresponding points of contact on the top picture. I'm not getting any signs of buzzes or hum of any kind, except for when I move my hand close to either p/u, & the closer I get, the louder the hum... dynamo hum... Even with both p/u's switched off, I get this noise that I probably wouldn't get with typical playing, but something's not right, & should I run a wire from those 2 p/u grounds to the ground at the controls? Many thnx~
  21. Hi all~ At a friend's suggestion, I went with the TC's Hall of Fame 2 (over the Oceans 11), & have been totally 'taken' by that pedal's shimmer effect, one that I've yet to encounter!! Between my Sustainer guitars & my now ignored E-Bow of 40 yrs, I must be in heaven, BUT is there any ($200 tops) pedal out there specializes and/or excels at the 'shimmer' thing?,, Something that might offer some parameter options as opposed to the rather simple, but glorious, HOF2's shimmer effect?? Even a dedicated, 'shimmer-only' would be great, but something at least as good as the TC's....? Thnx in advance~

    VOX AC10-TWIN Regrets

Thanks all,,, So if I really don't require the trem circuit, are there at all any bottom-line, tone- altering components in that ECF82 section that contribute to the overall bark of the amp & it's overall sound?
