Well, looks like I won't be winning any soldering run-offs any time soon 🤔 Even though the one right angle (that i installed) looked good, i simply lop'd it off, & with alligator clips, connection was made, & all controls back to normal... Now to check on any & all cables I had my mits on,,,, Thnx folks!!🪕🪕

After changing a pup in my Jazzmaster, I had pulled out a neatly, loosely wrapped, & rarely used Mogami 2524 15ft cable, & I figured I had knocked my tone cap loose upon reinstalling the guard as the tone control was deactivated AND ALSO, the taper on my volume pot resided between 8 & 10.... Anything below 8 was zilch signal,,, Then I picked up 4 more guitars & they ALL had the same reaction,,, NO Tone Control & next to zero Volume sweep,,, until I tried another cable, & (whew) everything came back to life.... How does a quality cable go so horribly bad, & has anyone ever seen this before?? thnx

Thanks DM,,, It's a very interactive mid control,, maybe more so than Boogies I've owned.... CLASS A or A/B? Dunno.... It's about 12 yrs old, & it works fine.... I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of it & that my #2 & 3 preamp tubes are the right values.... Not having a schematic or any willing input from the builder, brings me here.... thnx again~

DADDYMACK,, you nailed this guy to the 't', no schematic, most likely able, but unwilling to share any 'trade secrets', and armed with more one-word answers than a mob-trial🥵 Also, Robert Davis & ProAV are one & the same.... I had been 'watching' that amp for nearly a year, & unable to hear any clips, but seeing that he's a real deal builder, we made offline contact, I took the plunge & I got a killer deal on a quality amp.... I'm simply trying to sort out some seemingly unclear aspects (anomalies) of it's tone controls, & deciphering the optimum & proper values for the reverb driver & the tone stack tubes..... I'm not an under the hood kinda guy, but I crave the kmowledge.... VERY funny~ 🪕🪕ॐ

Thnx mack-daddy,,, if the amp was anything I felt you might've heard of, I would've included it, or perhaps I simply forgot🤔🤔 It's an RC Davis 30w Amp that they haven't made for over 10yrs.... Your answers addressed my queries but far from answered them. So, 1) Looking at that 7th tube, is it truly closed for business, the way it's criss-crossed with wires? 2) Are AX7's across the board okay, or should I implement the AT7 in that middle slot, AND is that middle slot indeed the reverb tube, & the 3rd slot is the PI that may indeed require the AT? 3) and lastly, why am I losing almost all amplitude when I bump down the Mid control,,,, would that gave anything to do with it being a 100k pot & not a 250 like it's neighbour's? Greetings ampoholics~ I need a hand with this here guitar amp. It was made by a renowned SF, CA company... It works fine & sounds great, though i have yet to crank it..... 2-6V6's, GZ34, 2-12AX7's & 1-12T7.... The only strange behavior thus far is that the Mid control, that when brought down, the most of the amp sound goes down, AND the Bass control has very little affect. (Tone pots are 250K, 100K & 250K) I've labeled all the relevant pots & parts~ My main questions, which the builder was unable to answer, was 1) There's that lone 9pin tube socket that, according to builder, was not being used , especially "if there was no 7th tube included",,,,, 2) It seems that the red reverb pot & tank connections are hooked into the middle 12**7 slot, so should that not be where an AT7 might go?? I know enough, being able to eyeball which is the 1st AX7 Pre, & is the 3rd pre slot is the tone circuit, & what would or should be another AX7?? It's a clear snapshot, so enlarging it show enough, i believe. That's a bias trim pot adjacent to the 2 power tubes? Is that Mid pot value, 100k, the reason I'm getting that volume suck as i go below 12:00, the way my Boogies do when you turn all the tones down? And that lone 9pin, which to me seems to be boarded up & shut down but still connected to the other pre's?? Any risks to having all AX7's? I want the most possible gain, the best Reverb return level..... A million & one thanks, folks, & be well~ ॐ💃

G'day.... Has anyone ever seen 6V6's that are this tall (see pic)....? The amp's maker, but not the previous owner, said the amp performed well with them, & they could be Chinese oddballs.... They're totally unmarked, and the one on the far right, is my standard sized Tung-Sol 6V6.... many thanks ॐ💃

Hi all~ Truly loving my new Vape, but not so thrilled about the microphonic reverb tank.... The 3EB2C1B that's in there now is a 600ohm in/2250ohm out tank. Kindly see attached pic & let me know if these two are successfully swappable..... I prefer a medium decay, & NOT so Fendery springy.... Thanks

Greetings,,, I just picked up on a set not in the original box... Wires are B/W, B/W, & B/Yellow, and looking at different online photos, most show the B/Y in the bridge, though many do have it in the middle.... Though there's no polarity issues, the eq on the bridge pup is different from the others. The 2 B/W's measure 10.9k, while the B/Y is around 10.5k, & wanted to know what's what, & what to do...?Thnx in advance ॐ

Greetings... About the tube options they offer for the preamp & recto; I very well understand the 6AT6 vs. 6AV6 gain concept, but I'm not so certain of the 5Y3 > 5V4 rectifier swap.... Can anyone kindly break it down for me, & hopefully in the context of this particlar amp....? Many thanks ॐ

Yes,, she's looking at either the Line6 Catalyst 60 or the Boss Katana 50..... Honestly, she requires ease of setup & use, & having the ability via a footswitch to switch channels and/or turning on/off effects.... thnx, Kenny ॐ

After read some great reviews on the Area noiseless p/u's, for a somewhat authoritative bridge sound that's not overly bright, & complimentary Middle & Neck pups that would offer superb, funky & sweet 2 & 4 positions, as well as the Bridge & Neck combo sound, what Area's and/or Virtuals would you suggest for a 3-SC noiseless pickguard? I have a friend with all the possible tools, and the question is if I daintily pull back the tolex from the area where the cutout will be, after a clean route, one should be able to re-affix the tolex & avoid a butchered looking amp? I've had good results with the silicone to repair small rips & moth holes on very old cones.... thnx

Greetings all... On my Strats, i typically send the output of my single tone pot to the middle lug on my Volume then to the output jack (50's?), but if I decide to put a treble bleed across the 2 available volume lugs, will it affect the way I have my tone to middle Vol lug? Thnx
