Alright, thanks for telling me about the Mighty Mouse. I'll have to go try them out. The clips seem pretty cool. Or maybe it's the EL84's? Ah, but it's difficult to choose the 'right' amp. Mesa F-30 Mighty Mouse Super Beetle Traynor YCV50 Blue Tech21 Trademark 60 etc...

Od course, my Nomad is my gigging amp, not the Mouse, so that should say something. 4xEL84 huh? Well, I guess you like the Nomad better and each person will find their own preference. I was just trying to see some differences between the F-30, since I have played the F-30 before. Fenderish and Marshally....isn't that what a Traynor YCV50Blue tries to do?
  4. How does the Mighty Mouse compare to a Mesa F-30?
  5. Originally posted by tlbonehead Read my post again. I have the regular Mighty Mouse head. And I even mentioned that it has shared EQ controls. The regular Mighty Mouse has shared EQ controls, plus the extra knobs and voicing switches. Of course, my Nomad 45 cost $699 new and has totally discrete EQ controls on each of the three channels. Ok, so what changes does the new one have?

It has shared EQ controls but there are a number of voicing knobs/switches that make it pretty easy to match up channels. The clean channel has one of the best clean tones I've ever heard. Whoa, $399 and $1200 is quite a difference.... Are you sure it's shared EQ? And how about the Super Beetle 20/30?
  7. Originally posted by Radiohead, lol $1200 odd I think, but it was brand new...I've seen used ones go for around $700. I chose the Rocker 30, as it just suited my needs better...the MM didn't have quite enough gain for most of the stuff I play. Whoa, $1200?! And I assume that's in usd... Alright, I don't think I can afford it. Besides, these amps aren't as popular as Mesa or Fender (I assume), so it'll be difficult to find them used. I just did a search on ebay... How about a Laney VC30?
  8. Originally posted by Radiohead, lol I nearly bought a mighty mouse a while ago...it was an excellent medium gain amp, but I decided to go for an Orange as well. basically, Lead: Marshall-y, loads of crunch..best for classic rock. clean: sort of like a vox, but it didn't break up easily. this amp was LOUD as well. How much was the Mighty Mouse selling for? I am after medium/mid-gains, so that's good to hear from the Mighty Mouse. I am actually thinking about the Super Beetle 20/30 which comes out in Jan 2007. Which Orange did you choose afterall and why did you take that route?
  9. Originally posted by thriftyshirt There are a few different models. I played a "Blue" for a little while in a local shop that was there on consignment. Its a 3 channel amp with clean, crunch, and lead. Clean was on the Voxy side rather than fender and pretty damn good, crunch was fun and sounded good although a little mushy, lead was a cool Brian May/70's rock sizzly lead. Not enough body for metal (which I don't play anyway). I imagine it would cut pretty well in a band setting, but I wouldn't have used it for a rythm sound as it was very sizzly and a lil' thin. Overall a nice variety of vintagey tones, with a little of its own voice. Price tag on it was $550 USD for the head (used), and I came really, really close to picking it up but I ended up getting a great deal on an Orange AD30TC and cab so I passed up on it. I'm pretty sure tlbonehead has a Blue Beetle or Mighty Mouse and he may chime in here and give some more input. Thanks for contributing. I'm looking at the 30 watt tube amps, such as the Mighty Mouse Mark II and the Super Beetle 20/30 watt. It seems like what I want looking at the clips, but I'm really unsure of the pricing as my budget is $800 cad. And I'd most likely be going new. I haven't heard much about these amps as well, so I don't know if I can trust the reputation. I mean, I won't mind spending $800cad on a Mesa or Fender, but George Dennis is really new to me. Was the 'blue' one you played 60/100 watts? or neither?
  10. How are the cleans and distortion? And how much do they go for in Canada?
