  1. Yeah i was always worried about losing dynamics in the tone when pickups are raised
  2. Yeah I also felt it was a bit thin. I liked the clean setting on the amp, hence didn’t change anything when the overdrive came in as I just kicked in the pedal. Should I turn down the ‘tone’ on the pedal or add another EQ pedal for the driven section? The amp is MAZ 18 MK II, the pedal is a TS clone (Demon Tube screamer).
  3. These are Fender 57 62 which has amazing cleans. What do you think of the drive sound?
  4. I'll try without the compressor next time. I also had to use noise reduction plugin during post-production to get the single coil + amp buzz under control, which also affected the naturalness of the tone.
  5. Please let me know what you guys think and if you have recommendation on how to improve / refine them?
  6. Reissues are great guitars, they give a taste of the vintage guitars without the hefty price.
  7. Just got a set of Fender Original '57/'62 pickups. Guitar shop told me it'd take 2 weeks to install them, I obviously couldn't wait so ordered some soldering tools and did the job myself within 3 hours. Not bad for a first timer Anyway - this is what it sounds like (or at least the neck, which is what I play on most of the time these days): I really like how dynamic these pickups are. Very clean, very chimey.
  8. Let me check it out
  9. I've been learning looping recently. This is the recorded loop of Eric Clapton's version of "I shot the sheriff" which is pretty fun to solo over. Any other recommended loop songs out there?
  10. Finally did a proper recording of my Bareknuckle Old Guard Pickups. Neck sounds pretty sweet to me and definitely has a vintage feel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kt-HSbG2n0c I still need to learn how to use two and four positions, as I'm traditionally a humbucker guy. Bridge is fine although quite bright so needs to be tamed when clean, apparently that's a common strat issue and not just with these pickups from what I read. In the meantime, I think I'll be stuck on the neck position for a while. Let me know what you guys think.
  11. I wasn't a big PRS guy and always stayed more traditional to the Les Paul / Strat. However since I got my Custom 24 (because I always wanted to find out what the fuss is about), I've slowly been converted....quite deeply now. The comfort of PRS is not something my Fender / Gibson guitars could match, and the tone is really good for driven tone (recorded a sample clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_zBcA35sII) I still prefer the cleans of Fender though, the neck single coil pickup tone is just too classic. Who knows with time if I'll start digging the cleans of PRS, if you guys have tips please let me know.
