  1. Some of those look pretty cool, but I'm wondering how they'll hold up over the long haul?

Good question. In a way, I'd almost hope that wouldn't hold up over the long. It'd be kinda cool to have a sticker inlay facelift ever so often. :)

  2. Those are really a great idea, Chris. I've got a couple of guitars that don't have any inlay on the fretboards. While I love the look, it's very hard for my students to figure out where I am on the neck.

  3. I never had any experience with American Musical, are they reliable?

Yes. I've made a few purchases through their 3 or 5 Easy Pay Plans. Super simple to set up the plans (just click the 3 or the 5 depending on how much you've spent), gear as described, tracking info emailed, prices about the same as other online retailers, gear shows up on time (really kudos to UPS, but AMS ships when they say they ship). So far, so good.

  4. Stackabones - I saw your post on the Yamaha FS720S. How is it treating you so far? It looks beautiful and the body is "jumbo" (not the standard dreadnought), isn't it?

I forgot to add that I do prefer a smaller and rounder body compared to the standard dreadnought as you guys might have been able to tell by my selections.

It's a 000 with a dread depth -- small body, but deep body, and a short-scale neck with a narrow nut and narrow saddle. I love, love, love it!

I'm just about two months into it and I've played about thirty-plus gigs, a ton of lessons, and countless jamming and noodling. Just keeps getting better.

Due to the dread depth, it definitely feels a little different than other similar sized guitars. But I think the depth adds a bit more bass response and volume.

Whether you do it by ear or you know what the right notes are, or, better yet, use both tools, there's still a lot of creativity and choice involved, and it is never any less magic no matter how much you know about what you're doing.
