  1. Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Feel free to move it, mods. First of all, hello everyone. My name is Melody. I'll keep my introduction short for now. I plan to record my own material for the first time in the next year or so. I want to do record my guitars, bass, and vocals, and use EZ Drummer 2 (or something like it) for drum tracks. If it matters, the style I do is a mix of sludge and death metal (mostly) So I know there are some basic things I need to do, like get a better computer, get a recording program and a few plugins, get an audio interface, get a few microphones, etc. I know I must be missing something. For example, will I need a microphone preamp? Also, will recording direct and using amp simulators and whatnot give me a passable guitar sound, or should I really be micing my guitar cabinet? (please excuse me, I'm very new to anything regarding this other than playing my guitar itself) I know I've got a long way to go and a TON of learning to do, but I want to make sure I have the right idea as I'm going about this. What equipment will I need to make a decent-sounding album?
