  1. I am more of a Collector (since 2005) than Player. Buying and Selling Used guitar gear is a hobby for me, and I find it relaxing. I found over the years that the HOT SELLING amps are the name brands that are in "favor" with the masses and Not necessarily that good. Which brings me to the QUESTION: "NAME UNDERATED TUBE AMP(s) THAT YOU'VE OWNED AND SORRY YOU SOLD!!" OK, I'll start - Most amp aficionados who hear the brand name CRATE almost immediately poo-poo the brand as a garbage amp. I can't stand that A-hole type of thinking. Yes, of course every brand has their Hero's and Zero's for example, The 5 watt combo Crate V5 is crappy, cheaply made amp from China whereas the Crate V58 is the USA made legendary 5 watt Studio amp that you can't find anywhere at any price. It had crystal cleans and great on the edge of breakup browns. I had one and regret that I sold mine. Did you know that the highly rated AMPEG amps were owned by the same company and made in the same factory? Another amp that guitarist like to poo-poo is Peavey. Their claim to fame is the "6505" for the high gain Metal-Heads and although that model is a few years old, today it's still a good seller but back in the day they also made the Tweed Classic, and the Valve King series. Not only were the amps great (mostly for classic Rock and Blues). But they also made killer speakers and guitars. The highly rated "Blue Marvel", and "Valve King" speakers were great for Rock, Jazz, and Blues and could be had for cheap if you can find them. Lets not forget about the EVH Wolfgang guitars. I personally own the Peavey "Jack Daniels XP" which is the same but a better made and sounding guitar than the EVH Wolfgang at HALF the Price IF you can still find one. Lastly I fast forwards to today - for some reason BLACKSTAR HT series amps is the flavor of the year that everyone loves to Hate. Don't ask me why. I have the Studio HT-20, and I got to play the Studio HT-20 MKii. I absolutely love both amps, and among my gear that I buy & sell everyday, my HT-20 has a permanent home in my mancave - Not for sale!! In conclusion, if you read my entire post (I know its long) I appreciate it and hope the take-away you got was there are many GREAT sounding amp bargains out there if know to look!!
