  2. and don't judge the wood on {censored}ty import guitars...

most lower line import alder guitars will sound quite a bit different than a nice USA alder strat or a basswood Anderson vs. a rg Ibanez ,etc.

or a "mahogony" ltd or import schecter verses a mahogany les paul....no contest really...

but then again I have played import alder axes that sound very heavy and great...every cheap guitar has a jem in it's batch!

also the JP I ordered has a new bridge pickup ( dimarzio D sonic) and wont be ready until october... but you usually get great support and a well put together axe with Ernie balls small production runs..

  3. most of the asian guitars use junk mahagony anyways ( esp, schecter, etc) . definitley a different grade of Mahogany than used on a gibson , hamer, prs ( american mahogony) American Basswood is a great tonewood ( suhr, Tom Anderson, Ernie Ball) but not a very pretty wood...that is why you see it painted solid or fitted with a maple cap...

I just ordered a Petrucci ( 6 string, piezo, carbon blue pearl) and can't wait to get it..I have owned a axis for around 10 years and it's perfect... Ernie ball's build quality and setup {censored}s all over most company's production models and there priced in the ibanez ball park...

I think JP gets a very heavy tone with his roadking's and basswood jpg..

  4. thinking about placing and order for a MM petrucci model. With Matching headstock and the piezo bridge...

    likes / dislikes

    is the peizo worth it?

    Describe the neck profile?

I played on a long time ago and loved it..I have an axis I really dig as well...

  5. I always thought Rob Halford was a cut way above all the high screamers...

tone, power , melody and a killer midrange voice...halford is the real deal!:thu:

and for pure metal vocal ability Ronnie James Dio takes it..at 64 his voice is still in great shape...ever see Dio live? He still puts his voice up front in the mix and belts it out with total authority..they don't make 'em like that anymore!
