  1. sorry for the late reply guys, but thank you all for the input. I was hoping I could get by without buying a program but it appears that I may have to. I havent tried limiting or much EQ, both of which I could do in Cubase. I'll fool around with that first, but as I said, I already had the output levels close to peak, so it looks like I will need some other program (like ozone) to take it the next step. I'm sure it would be easy to take it to a professional, but as much as it stresses me out, I love learning all this on my own. It's really time consuming but very rewarding, not to mention it saves $$. I haven't had a chance to download anything or read anything suggested yet, but I will and just wanted to post a quick update. thanks all, Dylan
  2. Hey, I'm basically a noob when it comes to recording. I've learned how to use Cubase well enough to record a full song, and put compression on the individual tracks, and on the final mix. However, I still can't get the overall volume level of the song to be as loud as a professional recording. I know I need to master the song, and I'm not sure how to do that. Compression? Limiting? Is it possible to do this within cubase? I had the levels so that the output bus was almost clipping, and still the audio mixdown wasn't loud enough. How could I get it louder without clipping the output bus? I know there are mastering programs out there, but if there's a way to get the levels high enough just from mastering in cubase that might be easier. I'm just trying to make a good demo for my band. Any suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated. thanks, Dylan Cobb
