  1. What kind of bass? What kind of pickups? 4 string? 5 String? Are they extremely old? Did you try boiling the strings with a bit of dish soap to clean them?
  2. Well, I'll start by saying, the thread is 11 years old, most likely he won't be back. Secondly, your info on Aria serial numbers is wrong. Aria introduced serial numbers on the neck plate, starting in 73. I know, I have one, and have had MANY others. Numbers started with a 01. Why? great question, you would have to look in the Japanese landfills for any accurate reasoning on Matsumoku serial numbers. From the onset of 73, to about early 77 or so, they were random. After they became Arai Pro II in 77, they were still on the random side. I have 3 guitars from 77, a PE 125, PE 130, and an ES-700, and only one has a serial number, and it starts with 0. Go figure.... (You may be thinking about Ibanez and their serial number system from early 78 or so. Letter for the month, then 2 numbers for year. This system works on guitars built by Fuji Gen Gakki, and Terada. For the ones they built for Roland, at Fuji Gen Gakki, they used the last digit of the year. ie: 4=84.) In about 79, you started seeing serials with a 9 as starting number, that became the standard for Matsumoku. Started with a 1? Since they didn't make it in 71, it's an 81 model. 7? 87. Then things got weird again. Matsumoku left Japan, the sewing factory that was their home burnt to the ground, production moved to Korea, and was done by Samick. Aria, Westone, Electra, were made by Samick starting in 88, with the serial normally being S88XXXX. Sometimes the S was omitted. Samick has kept the same serial number system since forever. Then production moved to China. Same numbering system, iffy quality. There you go.
  3. Looks pretty! Are you going to gloss the fretboard?

  5. Look at the 3rd post in this thread. yesh...
  6. One is a bass, the other, a guitar. And I am in LOVE with the guitar!
  7. I have done it many many many times in the past. It's a useful mod for giving a hum, single, and p90ish tone. The issue YOU may have, is that the pickups aren't 4 conductor. You will have to rewire the pickups. Not hard, just a PITA.
  8. Don't want flats, so..... That perfect compromise between flats and round. I LOVE these on certain guitars. They add a bit more bass and a bit less treble on a hollow and semi hollow.
  9. I have the SX Liquid with 2 P90's and that weird Jazzmaster styled trem thingy. Modded the electronics by replacing the 3 way, and adding a 4 way. And replaced the bridge since it was a rattle trap. Have a Douglas semi hollow tele, that blew away my MIM version. Replaced the 3 way with a 5 way Lawrence designed wiring. Also have a Agile 3010SE Paul with P90's. Just went with 50's wiring on it. I don't miss my Gibby's. Everything I have played with from Rondo has been wonderful and well worth the little they charge for quality.
  10. Welcome to a zombie thread about a POS amp that no one cares about. And welcome to Harmony Central in general.
  11. An active EMG won't really work due to 1) no grounding, 2)different value pots 3) different output jack. It's never been a recommended thing to mix active and passives. You can get a passive EMG Select that will drop in.
  12. The Premier is a line, which model do you have? Is it electric? Acoustic? Solid body? Hollow? Semi hollow? I have a fully hollow Excel model, the EXH-1SH that I got off of feebay as a broken neck husk for the STUPID price of $89. Arguably, one of the NICEST guitars action, feel, and tone wise I have ever touched! Yes it has mismatched parts, and an ok neck pickup, but it still is damn near perfect.
  13. He's dead, I don't care about him anymore. His Vegas store is dead, and that's a good thing.
  14. We all do stupid things while drunk or stoned. Eddie, no exception.
  15. I have used lemon oil for about 35 years.
  16. I have the Stew-Mac A2's and LOVE them to death! Worth every penny if looking for that older Gibson tone. (Mine are in a Eastman El Rey 3)
  17. Nice guitar, I've always loved the Ibanez hollows. And for the bridge. a tiny drop of contact cement will keep the bridge in place during string changes, without any marring of the finish.
  18. Hey there. Magna series, made from the late 80's to about 96/98 range. No, not Japanese, Korean made. As to the set up specs, no info, since they never made that public. Best setup, is the one that you like. Best answer I can offer.
  19. Simple, in 87 Aria moved production to Korea.
  20. Which is why I charge extra for hollow and semi hollows!
  21. Umm, what are you asking for, since you already know what it is? 1988, Korean made.
  22. Not a problem, that's what Google is for.
  23. Radical concept here, but it's a …. wait for it.... wait for it.... TA-40B!!! Lots of detective work there. (whew!) Mid 90's 94-96, MIC (Made IN China) Generally thought to be a decent starter guitar.
