  1. Hey Gang, I'm a drummer that has several nice drum kit pkgs (Battery, Impact, MODO, AD2/XLN), but I've yet to have figured out the best way to get the best use out of them without being forced to use just 1. So, I'm soliciting ANY opinions on how you guys utilize any of these pkgs, and their features to maxim effect and/or efficiency. For instance, is there a particular feature that 1 does much better than the others? Do you use 1 feature for 1, then switch to another? Whatever your ideas are I'm open to. TNX!
  2. Probably 20 yrs ago now, Cakewalk/Sonar II rolled out 1 of the most innovative practical drum s'ware EVAH!! The reason it was so practical is because while it had no sounds, it allowed you to use ANY h'ware or s'ware drum module, regardless of sample format, and you could use a Kick from something like AD2, a snare from Battery, Toms from EZ Drumz, etc. Then, you could also use multiple MIDI ch. from those same devices or s'ware. You could transpose 1 note assignment to another. So, the beautiful thing is you weren't stuck with using the FULL kit of something, when you only needed one sample of it. It had a template for Complete GM Drums, or you could create your own, so EVERY STINKING SAMPLE ON YOUR HDD could be used at once if you so desired. From what I remember, the only problems with it were if you edited it, or if you uninstalled 1 of those drum sources the template kind of fell apart, and they never developed a way that you could even print it out so you could remember where everything was assigned, but it seems like that should be something a Coding 101 class could teach. Before I migrated to PreSonus SO6 AFTER I left Sonar I had BEGGED Cakewalk to upgrade what was just 1 of the coolest, and convenient features of ANY DAW I'd ever seen, but they never would listen. And as innovative as PreSonus is, AND THEY ARE, I haven't been able to get them to move off the stump either. I just got off of 2 days of scouring KvR.com looking for little goodies to add to my DAW since it had been awhile, and again, no one has a pkg out there that does this. AMAZING! So, I'm wondering if any true programming geeks out there (they're usually keyboard players from my experience) that could develop a stand alone app like this. Again, it's NOT a .WAV, or SF2, or .SFZ PLAYER, it's simply a mapper. I bet you could sell it to at least ONE of these major DAW developers for a pretty penny. JUST A THOUGHT! KC
  3. I'm currently drooling at the mouth waiting to get my tax refund so I can buy these 2 products. I'm eager to hear how everyone sets up your drum maps between the 2 products. I'm trying to decide if I should use 1 row of 16 kicks, 16 snares on 2nd row, etc., etc. in Battery. Then, map the 1 or 2 samples that I'm using in whatever song to the AtomSQ pads. This just being an example. Typically, I reserve MIDI ch.s 10-12 for ANY/ALL perc. So, 10 for kits only, 11 for latin perc, and 12 for orchestral perc. I just want the most efficient means of using all of my samples from all of my libraries as I can. Thanks.
  4. So, I'm using a PreSonus Quantum, but I have to keep it REAL quiet. I have some great JBL bluetooth earpods, but obviously the Quantum is NOT Bluetooth compatible. I'm just looking for something Bluetooth compatible I can plug into the headph. jack so I can monitor with my earpods. Any suggestions?
  5. Great article Craig, it actually was the perfect segue to a great idea I had. Not heaping another task on your busy schedule, just saying it'd be a great idea, but it's along the lines of your article. What if musicians had a site they could go to to get their DAW workstations completely optimized according to the setup they already have, and given any recommendations to make it better. And to make it profitable offer a decent FREE scan, and then give other paid options, maybe an exclusive discount to other PC retailers.
