1. I know that some of you are not familiar with the Godin brand (Godin, Art & Lutherie, Simon & Patrick, Seagul, Norman La Patrie) because you can't find the guitars easily in your area, I noticed that the prices increased a lot since last time I checked, even in Quebec, Canada. and even if it's a canadian brand. The Art & Lutherie Concert I was looking at is hard to find. It's probably a discontinued model with an ancient price tag. With the inflation, these days, I understand that workers who build guitars want to be able to pay their bills like anybody else. I guess that guitars are getting more expensive like everything else! A guitar that would sell for 400$ - 440$ a couple of years ago can cost 600$ - 700$ CAD, now! 🤥 Edit: The price of the Yamaha FG800M is 299$ CAD + taxes (15%) in Quebec, Canada. The Taylor GS Mini Rosewood was super nice but did not project as much as the Yamaha and was 899$ CAD + taxes, gig bag included. https://www.long-mcquade.com/171084/Guitars/Acoustic-Guitars/Taylor-Guitars/GS-Mini-Rosewood-Acoustic-Guitar-with-Gig-Bag.htm Fixing the Cort is not going to be cheap if I ask a luthier to make a brand new bridge! If at least I could buy a bridge from Cort... _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
2. And here at work, we are on strike... It's kind of... cold! 🥶 https://aptsq.com/en/news/public-sector-contract-talks-front-commun-announces-a-3rd-series-of-strike-days-from-december-8-to-14/
3. Last night, I insulated a window for winter in the living room. It is getting colder in Canada and it's just the beginning! . Maybe it would be better to wait a few days to see if the guitar stays as it is or if it will need another setup! I
4. I think it's not too bad for a budget guitar !! 😄 And yes, a top like this would be so cool!! 😛
5. They did a setup on it. The action is very Nice. I'm surprised that they did that for a budget guitar!
6. Tonight I got the Yamaha FG800M !! I'm not going to worry about receiving the Cort's bridge straight in my face until it get fixed properly and I'll be able to play meanwhile!
7. I mean it will be less fragile because it only has a solid top and the rest is laminate, not because of the size. The Earth Custom is an all solid wood guitar that needs more precautions. Excuse my bad English! I dont practice enough, these days!
8. Hi! I tried a few guitars, yesterday and could not find another Art & Lutherie like the one I saw, however, I've been impressed by a Yamaha FG800M and another Yamaha, an FGX800C. There was also a smaller one, a Yamaha FS800, but it didn't sound as good. They were better than more expensive guitars in the shop. However, I went to another music shop and the FG-800M they had there was not setup as well as the other. The acoustic guitars weren't in a separate room with humidifiers. I guess it could explain the difference between both stores, but I'm wondering how stable it will be at home. I would prefer the FGX800C, but the price of the FG800M is better! It would let me more money to fix my Cort Earth Custom. Right now I'm trying to convince myself I don't need a cutaway... but in reality, I'd love one!
9. Hi! I've been thinking about this all week while the guitar is in my living room and not in the basement, in the locker room. I think I'm goining to get a cheap solid top like this one: https://artandlutherieguitars.com/product/legacy-natural-eq and let the luthier work on the Cort if he assures me it's not going to be too expansive. Just the fact that I let the guitar inside, cleaned and oiled the fretboard helped a bit, I think, (or am I biased) but it still need work! The Art & Lutherie is a concert size guitar and it will be less fragile. But the Cort still sounds very good!
10. Hi! It's been a long time since I've been here. I don't know who is still here, sometimes. I had the blues. My brother died tragically last summer. I still have the blues to be honest. I was missing playing guitar and took my old Cort Earth Custom in the locker-room. It was in a soft gigbag,I cleaned it, oiled it. There's a crack on the top that was already there and a crack in the bridge that was there too. I remember that a bone pin broke last time I had changed the strings. It seems that I used other pins that I had and now there is five ebony and one plastic bridge pins. The action is much too high at the 12th fret... I think it is a bridge pins problem, but I'm not sure! With these ebony pins, the saddle bridge is too high... Also, there is a gap under the bridge... It's lifting. This guitar still sounds very good, though. (It's all solid wood.) I would like to fix it at low cost. I already set the trussrod the best I could. What is the best thing to do?
11. I started to learn Free Fallin' and did a noisy-short-recording. (I will maybe regret posting it tomorrow after a couple of hours of rest but, well, here it is!) Free Falling day 1 practice.mp3
12. Hi! Still not out of this pandemic for the end of the year 2020. I hope you are all safe and well and your family too. I'm on vacations plus I'm confined like the rest of my province. Merry Christmas to you all !!
13. Hi everybody!! I hope you are all doing well! It's been a long time! Today, I've been busy at the office, working for more than 11 hours in overtime! I was afraid I would be stuck in the trafic because of the Formula E not too far from my work. So, when I left, I decided that I needed to look for a better acoustic pickup than my Fishman Neo D, instead. (Which is not bad but doesn't have a preamp.) And I found one! (Oups! I Don't know what happened... it's kind of 90 degree on the wrong side!) So, what do you think!! ;-)
14. Is your guitar under warranty??? If I were you, the first thing I would do would be to contact Godin (Seagull) and tell them about the problem, even if the guitar isn't under warranty. Maybe they will send you a new tuning peg for free! Here is the link: info@seagullguitars.com Good luck!! Edit: I would also include a picture with an "X" showing the position of the defective tuning peg and your address. It would make it even easier for them to just grab a new tuning peg and mail it to you and maybe send you and email too to tell you about it! Just my $ 0.02 !!
15. no... wish it was! I spend a lot of my time illustrating. Wow! Super!! J'aime beaucoup!! I knew Zenbu could draw very well but didn't know for you!! ----------------------------- Music is not my biggest thing but I'm passionate about it! I'm never going to be a terrific player but I enjoy playing guitar and I enjoy electronic gears, computers, etc. I also really like to learn English with all of you! I would like to add a third language too (probabbly spanish). I like to read, compose, so my biggest thing would probably be language, implying my ability to compose - in my native language - and my imagination. (Friends used to say that I don't need to smoke... though they do to understand me!)
16. If I didn't already have a Yamaha dread, I'd get either of the MD60 or the MD80 ... maybe both. Those closeout prices are too good to pass up! + 1!!!
17. Hi, Has anyone ever heard of a Norman Folklore-3? It's an old 12 string model made by Norman. I am quite familiar with Norman guitar models (new & old) but have never heard of that model ever. Thankfully I own one otherwise I probably would not even believe that such a model even existed. Here is how it looks like: It's an amazing instrument with quite a wide neck and a very unique bright organic sound. Does anyone here ever heard of this model? I searched all over the web but never found the slightest allusion to any "Folklore-3" series from Norman. Please feel free to comment. It might be an old Norman that has been made before Godin bought Norman. Try to email Norman to see what they have to say about it! email: info@normanguitars.com
18. Has anyone compared a Norman B20 Folk to a Seagull S6 + Folk? They are very similar, and of course, corporately affiliated. I'm wondering what the differences are. The one thing I don't like about the conglomerate is that none of their websites give particularly comprehensive info, and price quotes are hard to find. Norman B20 + Folk = solid spruce top, narrow neck Seagull S6 + Folk = solid cedar top, wider neck except if it says "slim neck".
19. My favorite colors are blonde and blue 50'S Just like this:
