It's very common. I remember back in my retail days we recieved some of the first JEM Ibanez guitars to be produced. Via signed I believe the first 100, we had three of those. Most of that early run came in with fret ends hanging over the edge of the neck, and those guitars weren't cheap even back then. It has to do with the manufacturer using green wood for it's necks and by the time it dries out and in the store you have fret ends (that and the weather like mentioned) Now look how desired those guitars are. Go back and get it, you know you want it.
