  1. A bit like the song. Put together a partscaster and  was never quite satisfied .

After trading some gear I ended up with a Little 59 Strat neck Pup so why not give it a try  . It has promise but the bridge didn’t blend well so it now has a GFS oversized pole price wound to 10 k
Maybe this time it’ll be done IMG_0952.thumb.jpeg.7af06234361b5232f3a5764a3ec78574.jpeg

    bonus

It seemsI don’t know how to post a video so here’s a link to the song

Got these tow Xavier’s on the double coupon sale thing GF.  Both had crazy fret sprout that I spent about an hour each on.  Other than that both sound and now feel great.  Blonde is a ash body black is an alder body

I also have two of their Teles, the first one had fret sprouts everywhere. Once I smoothed them the neck actually felt so good that I got the second one which came with a perfect neck. I still prefer the maple fretboard though.

Hi guys, first time here. I'm not a Guitarist per se, I'm mostly a keyboards man. I procured my Crate KX 160 in a trade...(2 JBL PA cabinets. This was back in 1989 I used it for club gigs, and it didn't fail me. I used it with a "Voce" mini B and a midi setup with a Roland G800 keyboard, It has 160 watts of power and features a 15" Crate Custom woofer and a Foster bullet tweeter housed in a ported tuned enclosure. It really kicks ass!

Well, when it is working any way....

I'm 78 now, retired,  and don't get out to play much anymore.

But aside from that the KX160 has developed a little quirk!

The sound output goes dead after mebbe 7 -10 minutes. I'd like to find a tech that would fix it, but the unit is so old the schematics are difficult to find.

So... I bought myself a "Line 6 Spyder IV" with 2 "Celestion" 12's

it's an amp emulator, and really amazing!!

Recemtly built a Fender strat clone,

and a Gretsch Country Gentleman clone. I have almost completed a

"Bruno Ventura" 12 string Acoustic restoration.

Not a well known brand and worth mebbe 300 bucks.

It had sat in someone's attic, no case, for 10 years or more I'm told.

Looking at the guitar I'd agree!!!

the neck was over trussed into a bowed position and the truss rod

nut was stripped, So a new dual action rod was replacing the old single rod.   There was also a slight radial twist in the neck.

Long story short, it required a neck reset, got a new fretboard and Nickle frets, a new pick guard Peizo under saddle pickup with a pre-amp and integral tuner. Tuner keys were reusable,But it got a new (bone) nut and saddle.

Now this was done out of pity for the poor guitar being in a Houston attic for ten years, unloved unplayed, just gathering dust, dirt

and humidity Lots of humidity. Most of the time the humidity is in the 80% plus!  range and summer temps in the last six years have been in the triple digits here.

So before I bore y'all to death I'll end this here

I'll stop back with an update, in the future.

Welcome to the forum. I can’t help you out with the amp problem but I would love to see the restoration work on that 12 string

Maybe you can even start a thread on the acoustic section. I’m sure you’ll get a lot of interest

  4. I bought this one because of the neck. It’s a little chunkier than my Mexican Strat but not like a baseball bat either. The body is 3 piece ash. I found it on the clearance page at GuitarFetish. There is a small scuff on the back of the neck near the heel ,it’s barely visible and in an area I would never feel it. No problem. It was discounted $10 for the scuff but 20% off for a sale meaning it was delivered to my door for under $200.

it was very playable after tuning. The neck feels great , frets are good and the pickups are fine. I did go over it later. The truss rod got an adjustment and the action on the bass strings was a little higher than I prefer but overall it was pretty good. I normally change strings right away but it sounds pretty good already so the 9’s will stay for a while. I do plan to darken the fretboard whenever the strings get changed.867B6F39-7298-40A7-9CC0-26D48ABBF708.thumb.jpeg.ea93f255c01e32358753d856ad496ebe.jpeg867B9AD0-9308-45A0-AB5A-02D5DDA7B30B.thumb.jpeg.4b90a8e6ab2294b7f7d23faa6fcc0b68.jpeg4E436128-CA00-43B4-8959-CE56A8B0AA9D.thumb.jpeg.782fe5b0801bba67461949e348f83b25.jpeg

Sounds to me like the tuner is having an issue? What kind of tuner is it? If it is a 'simple' tuner, or one with multiple instrument settings, it may be having difficulty locking on the low D note, as it is an octave lower than the D note it usually reads....I have a Fender tuner that is 'finicky' like that.

That just may be. I know the cheapest tuner I have works better than the others for intonation.

The Humidy pack probably works well. I cut holes in a Ziploc bag and put a small wet spong inside. Tuck it in by the headstock in the case. No problems so far, and the sponge doesn't get moldy. Have been using this method for years.

That’s just what I ended up doing too, simple and effective

but you will be hungry again in an hour...come by and hang out, I'm going to grill up some Andouille sausage...plenty to go around, got a spare room you can crash in...

Sounds good but it’s a long drive. Even with the difference in time zones I won’t be able to make it maybe next year
