  1. Thanks. I'm getting it dialed in and love the feel of the neck. I'm surprised nobody noticed that I forgot to finish tightening the 2 center screws on the bridge plate before I took the last pic,
  2. Thanks I know you don’t care for Teles so it’s gracious of you to say so
  3. There really should be an expiration date.
  4. Well it rained Thursday so I got a chance to work on MY project . Almost finished. I just need to add string tees and maybe some sort of non-Fender headstock logo. It will take a little time to dial in the setup and tweak the pickups but so far so good. I went with an Orange Drop 047 tone cap and a no-load 259k pot. The pickups are from GFS ,their pro series vintage wound 63. I like the staggered poles in the bridge. I’m sure they are “inspired by” Fender 1964 and if I ever upgrade it will be to Fender .
  5. Anything done to cover up a bad fit tends to look even worse
  6. Still waiting for parts to arrive. Meanwhile , I got the PG so I wet sanded it with a sanding block using 2000 grit then wiped a little Lemon Pledge over it to get sort of a Bakelite look
  7. I went with vintage style slotted tuners ,they required the use of adapter bushings because of the 10mm peg holes . The pickups will be GFS 63 vintage wound professional series . The bridge has staggered poles and is wound to 6.3k while the neck is wound to 7.8k. The control plate is here but hasn’t been soldered up yet The tone pot is Fender no-load, I wIll probably use the chicklet cap that was included. A black pickgaurd is supposed to arrive tomorrow along with a few other pieces. Copper shielding tape will be here Saturday and a Wilkinson bridge plate with compensated brass saddles is due Monday The neck will not be screwed on until I have the bridge plate to verify the alignment Our son has his stuff temporarily stored in the garage so I’ve been forced to setup shop in the shed, which actually is pretty good
  8. Parts are slowly coming in ,by Monday everything should be here. No too much I can do until then
  9. Roasted maple sounds like something to put on pancakes not guitars
  10. Hmmm , I don’t know anything about that. It does have some sort of oil based finish
  11. i did step up a bit on the neck. I need 1-11/16 nut width, C profile,22 frets, 9-1/2” radius and of course a skunk stripe . I went with a Mighty Mite ,licensed by Fender, Birdseye maple. It matches the binding nicely and I think it looks good with the body color
  12. It may take a little while, everything is ordered and starting to arrive . Time is the issue right now ,it will be more of a rainy day project.
  13. starting with a XGP body. Not normally my first choice in colors but once I looked at it I was hooked
  14. It will be a double bound Tele style Details to follow
  15. It’s not worth it. There’s nothing to prove Arguing rarely changes anything except my mood. Just let them talk
  16. Yes ,I always use a tuner to set intonation.. If I give the guitar a cleaning and polishing the points on the f holes give me a starting point when restringing. Some people change the string one at a time to keep the bridge in place. I had in the past used a piece of masking tape as a reference to locate the bridge to install strings. I find it much easier to jut remove all of the strings and the bridge for a good cleaning. When it's time to put everything back I start with the bridge centered with the f holes then use a tuner to get it exact. I use 12th fret harmonic and fretted
  17. I used to mark the location with masking tape whenI had one with a rosewood bridge .Even that was not terrible to intonate if I at least got it close to start with. I guess I feel that if it was supposed to be fixed the factory would have done it
  18. A friend was installing a bridge on a violin . I asked him how do you know where it goes? He explained that it needs to be over the sound posts and the trick is to line it up with the points on the center of the f-holes. I’ve noticed the same holds true for my guitar, an Ibanez AF75. I was slightly off this time but within range of the intonation screws
  19. I joined just before the last wave of the party. You could literally set there and watch a thread drop down the page
  20. If guitars are like girlfriends ,I should have a harem.
  21. If this guy says they should be avoided I would take his advice .
  22. a Gretsch Clipper from about 1964. My girlfriend at the time couldn't understand why I had so many guitars so I.sold a couple., Eventually got rid of her as well This one is NOT MINE but identical to it Come to think of it ,mine had a pickgaurd [img2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/images.reverb.com\/image\/upload\/s--8XvYHh62--\/f_auto,t_supersize\/v1564410564\/j7t9nlzpxbarxacty9d5.jpg"}[/img2]
  23. Hey, you did a great job on that. Time and attention to detail always pays off.
