  1. I haven't played one but if it's in obviously OK shape and sounds good to you (it should) that's a pretty good price.. I think street price on those is around $450 or just below. I have a Breedlove mandolin coming via UPS right now - they make good stuff, period.

I just had the pleasure of seeing Rory Block last night at the Tucson folk festival - she'll close out tonight's performances as well. Pretty incredible woman I thought. I dunno if it was an act or not but she made a point of saying she didn't know how to describe any of her tunings, that she just twisted the machines until things sound good. That made me feel pretty accomplished (though somehow I don't play 10% as well as she does ), and that's not a bad thing.
  3. Fingerstyle I call Jorma Kaukonen. I'm a flatpicker, however, and like Tony Rice an awful lot.
