  1. Here are a few shots of my "one room" setup. http://www.adigitalmus.net/StudioPics/Studio2007/ Dave M. might recognize something he sold me a few years ago Scott Ha, I have the square version of you coffee table, same exact thing though, wouldn't mind having a bunch of other stuff that matches yours, like piano, instruments, etc..
  2. I don't think that's the problem here. The problem here is that the original poster obviously does not really have any idea of what mastering really is. He starts off saying that people who make posts regarding mastering don't know what they're talking about, and then goes on to mention "reference" amps with loudness buttons...the nonexistent 15-band shelving EQ Ethan has already pointed out...talks about "peaks in sync with each other"..."sucking out" the midrange...and makes no mention of limiting, or what's involved in mastering anything more than a single song at a time. There's some good advice in there...mainly, to listen to what you're doing...but there's no magic secret (or "pretty much standard method") for this, and the nonsense about "gaps" and making things sound "blended" and even "bland" is really meaningless. One can certainly do a decent job of mastering a song or album with some relatively simple tools, but if you think that there's one standard easy way to do it you're mistaken...and if you're going to say that people who frequent the forum "don't have a clue" about mastering you'd better make sure you have a clue yourself. -Duardo I agree with you. that there is no magic secret and each song will have it's own problems to deal with. But this person gave a few tips, maybe he doesn't have experience or use the right terms ,but still, just because he gives a couple techniques doesn't mean that everyone who reads it HAS to follow them. Many of these people could have easily read it, thought to themselves that it doesn't apply, and then moved on, but instead they rip on the original poster. There were a couple good techniques, maybe not for mastering, but for some mixing things even, if a newbie were to read his post, and then read from everyone that it is stupid, they might not even try the things that were said. Since this is a recording forum, and we all have the same goal, to make our mixes/final products sound better, the threads should no consist of just calling other people stupid or wrong. But maybe people can add on their own suggestions, or maybe why certain things wouldn't work, but to just bash on someone because they have a different way of working on things is childish and it really doesn't reflect good light on people in this forum trying to be "professional."
  3. This is true, but if you follow Htaed's steps, you will end up with crap Wow, this is an amazing forum.... Everybody is always asking for the secret cheap piece of gear that will get them studio quality results for $100, yet when someone gives a few tips for people to try and maybe save a little money for their personal mixes everyone thinks it's stupid and you can't possible make anything happen without having $10,000 worth of gear. The problem is, everyone wants to think they are the only ones able to make a good mix with their $500 setup because they have that special "secret" to actually make something good.
  4. get a mac....haha, just kidding. well, yes that would be cool. but i know there is a way to fix your problem other than getting a mac, but it would make it easier . i would check the settings for your firewire card. make sure that its all syncing correctly. and... thats all i can think of.

  6. Originally posted by mxpxfan But yeah, HCBF is a big time suck. Must be Lug's influence on the forum. He sucks so much that each time we are on the forum, it sucks some of our brain cells, and we become stupider and stupider so soon all we can do is sit and chat about absolutely nothing.
  7. im working on an argument essay right now, yuck. It doesn't help that i went to band practice instead of working on it. and also that I'm on HCBF and not working on it. geez, i hate ADD.
  8. isnt the female body gorgeous. I don't understand how guys can be gay, and how all women aren't lesbians. It boggles my mind.
  9. is this only for certain people, cuz I kinda cut in a little earlier, is it open, or frowned upon when other people post in here?
