  1. Does anyone have or have heard the DC-30 clone? I'm fuggin gassin for one bad. Hopefully this band will want to record there demo soon...
  2. Tape sounds warmer because it's not as efficient as digital and has a much higher noise floor.
  3. this is a totally different beast from the {censored}ty 120H. your price is fair IMO.
  4. I vote doubled and panned hard. Try it, it may not be what your looking for but I would try it and see if you like it.
  5. Having exsperienced cheap CDs I would say the biggest pain in the ass is media not being able to be read (no scratches) well down the road. You will also notice that you can see through these CDs and they don't seem to hold together in the long run.
  6. The OP is silly. Where is the limiter? Reverb always needed? () Others have no idea what they are talking about? Suck out the mids? (terrible idea) This thread was stupid from the first post.
  7. My neibor is cool we have "who can be the loudest" wars. I always kick his ass . He tollerates me I tollerate him it's a good deal. He plays drums I have a half stack. He smokes pot I have parties. It's a good "don't tell on me or I will tell on you" relationship!
  8. No I don't use a power soak but I hear they can be really usufull in the studio. They are not cheap in my opinion but I suppose if your trying to keep the volume down while not losing your tone then heck go for it. I would say a good one is gonna cost you at least $300.
  9. this is just an audio interface... goes into my PC via USB, then through Sonar, then OUT of my computer into my speakers. With a PCI soundcard. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding how this thing works... You are if there is stereo outputs and headphone output on that unit it is more than likely also a sound card. you just need to set it right within windows. And your on your own there I do not know windows.
  10. Tube amp + good guitar + 808 or TK999 (harder to find) or TS-9 or honestly any good OD pedal. And some decent instroment mics the i5, sm57 and e609 are great mics.
  11. Originally posted by tamoore The cheapest condenser on the market way out performed my SM58 for my vocals. While in retrospect I am not happy with the results that particular mic gave me, it was a vast improvement over the dynamic mic. Depends, some metal bands use dynamic mics in there professional productions. Lamb of God for example used a 58 in the vid I saw of them recoding with machine.
  12. Filled out your survey. Heard the amp, don't like it at all. It could be the clips but it just doesn't sound good to me.
  13. Duende? UAD-1? You don't have to run pro tools to have dsp effects. I would love Duende mmmmm..... CPU power mainly gets used to run vsti and vst effects in cubase next to none of the power goes intoplaying the tracks themselves. Alot of this question is subjective. I would definitly not say that pro tools is the best though it's just the most common. I would say sound wise Nuendo 3 = Pro Tools HD Cubase SL 3 and SX 3 > Pro Tools LE Pro Tools LE > Cubase LE I don't know about logic and sonar and digital performer cause I haven't ever used them.
  14. I just listened to ZAO's new cd (they are hardcore metal so if you don't like raspy yelling nm this post) and they did it on analog tape so it sounds really nice and uncompressed. Wich is cool in todays "compress the hell out of things to get it loud and lifeless" market.
  15. I think verb gets overdone. I mostly think due to people wanting to drown out there tonal flaws. 80's metal anyone?
