  1. Oh gosh I'm new here I'm currently playing out with 2 different bands(and getting started on my own band, but we're just rehearsing). I play bass and electric Gear: Fat Strat (ssh), Fender jazz 5 string, Gretsch Hollowbody, Taylor 114 acoustic Vox AC30, Carvin 100w 15'' bass combo Setup is generally straightforward, amp is usually on stage, and I'm pretty much using a wedge + earplugs (sensaphonics customs). I was playing at some of the big megachurches in Chicago over the past few years and was using in ears with the Avion system which was great. Not so lucky anymore. I do really like using ears, but I've come to realize (especially after using Aviom for so long) that I'm really picky and always wanting to adjust things, so I think I'm better off just having my amp and wedge at a decent level, and tossing in my earplugs. --- As for sound stuff, I work for 2 production companies and do some work at some larger churches in the area. Setup is usually cover bands playing in large bars, I bring in the system and set it up (one man job, it's tough, but it's a lot better pay than when I was working on a 3 man crew) Mains: TurboSound TCX-15 (powered) Subs TurboSound (TCX)2x18 (powered) Internal crossovers/limiters I had never heard of them until I started working there, but they're pretty small and sound GREAT. They're imported from the UK, and probably comparable to the smaller powered Meyer 2 way cabs. Wedges: TurboSound 12'' tdx (x4) (passive) Powered by: Crown Macrotech (Most bands have at least 1 or 2 using in-ears, which they provide) Board: Yamaha LS9-32 I love this board, it's as simple as that. I've mixed on almost every big name out there the PM5D, M7, digico SD8, along with big analog Midas, Crest and A&H. This board is perfect for this kind of work. On most nights I can unload/load the van by myself in under 15 minutes once everything is packed and ready to go out the door because there are no amp racks (aside from the one wedge amp), no outboard gear, and usually only 2 wedges to pack. At the church I do the most work at, it's a 48 channel A&H and powered Meyer UPQ cabs. All the IEM is hardwired since the band leader is on piano and the stage is small. Other pieces I'm a fan of: Sennheiser G2/G3 wireless systems - always seemed better build and sound quality than Shure, even the top end stuff - psm900/ULX/UHF-R Sennheiser 600/900 series drums mics - I like the Beyer spring clips, but the Senn ones always sound great. Not really a fan of the audix ones. I got about a year head start on everyone with the Digico SD8 at school (we got the first production model immediately after it was used at bonnaroo in 2008. The thing is wild. Meyer Sound - Ultraseries/MILO arrays - Some of the best sounding speakers I've heard.
