  1. there's delay somewhere on nearly all popular recording in the last 30+ years.
  2. I've heard a couple clips of the Bugera and they sounded horrible to me.
  3. How are you liking the cleans?good, the little time I use it. I always use a 2-amp setup, so I never have both amps on a cleab setting.....usually neither of them are clean. I do run a Fish/Chips in front of it and it gets a nice clean chime by dialing in the EQ correctly.
  4. It seems strange that a company would go to all the effort of developing a lucite guitar, and not make it a decent guitar.mine is a LP shape and is fine.
  5. I have a couple. They are what they are. Very inexpensive but as good as most things in that price range. I too have a lucite LP model that I put HB-sized P90s in and it sounds killer. Like a supercharged Tele.
  6. Like I said, not really a fan of lipstick humbuckers. Too clanky. I played a Mustang recently that I loved, but when played through an amp similar to mine... I just couldn't get much I liked out of it, atleast not for what I play. If I was playing in a different kind of band, I'd definitely be into it, but for what I play now... Not so much. And the gain on my Orange is always dimed, and the 5150... well, it's got too much gain when it's unplugged. Well, I meant a boost pedal, actually. I think the so-called rhythm channel on a 5150 is pretty usable for your main overdrive tone. Anyway, did you try the GFS lipstick HB in your Hodad? People here really like them.
  7. Add some gain. You can get pretty heavy with lipsticks, or pickups that have a similar outpit. LAKINI'S JUICE by Live is played on a Fender Jag or Jazz, both of which have pretty low output pickups. Nothing light about that tone.
  8. Was it the Hodad or a different model that came with the dual lipstick HBs? I guess my thoughts are that if you go out and buy a Dano, why not let it be a Dano?
  9. Palomino's do rule. Though they are technically ampeg's with a crate badge. The V8 kills fender, epiphone, and peavey 5 watt tube combos.Ampeg and Crate is the same company. Paliminos and V-series are just newer lines of the Vintage Club seies. And yes, the V8 is pretty decent. I have two of them as well as a V-series V-58.
  10. No, i have to disagree with this. Play the VC series and the Palamino's. If you say they sound like shit, you're just wrong. That's all.You do know you are talking to a troll, correct?
  11. Mesa threatened to sue Carvin over the X-series. I believe Mesa also made Acoustic and Mitchell stop making their "cascading preamp" tube amps. Bedrock had a Vox lawsuit model.
  12. introduce yourself, -what are you studying? -what school? -waht year are you? 1 3-credit class. Advanced computer graphics.
  13. Originally posted by Bassified Alright, thanks for telling me about the Mighty Mouse. I'll have to go try them out. The clips seem pretty cool. Or maybe it's the EL84's? Ah, but it's difficult to choose the 'right' amp. Mesa F-30 Mighty Mouse Super Beetle Traynor YCV50 Blue Tech21 Trademark 60 etc... You should add the smaller Rivs, like the R30/R55, Clubster. And expand your Mesa models. And add the Bravo to the list.
  14. Originally posted by Bassified 4xEL84 huh? Well, I guess you like the Nomad better and each person will find their own preference. I was just trying to see some differences between the F-30, since I have played the F-30 before. Fenderish and Marshally....isn't that what a Traynor YCV50Blue tries to do? Not sure what they try to do. Haven't played that one much. And I don't know what George had in mind when designing his amps. I just know what mine sounds like.
  15. Originally posted by Bassified How does the Mighty Mouse compare to a Mesa F-30? More power. 4xEL84 compared to 2xEL84. The clean is pretty Fendery. The overdrive has a pretty Marshally vibe and the amp has to be opened up a little to sound good. Quality-wise, the GD stuff is top rate. Od course, my Nomad is my gigging amp, not the Mouse, so that should say something.
  16. Originally posted by Bassified Ok, so what changes does the new one have? I don't know. I don't have one. They are both on the website. You could compare them. I left a link to it.
  17. Originally posted by Bassified Whoa, $399 and $1200 is quite a difference.... Are you sure it's shared EQ? And how about the Super Beetle 20/30? Read my post again. I have the regular Mighty Mouse head. And I even mentioned that it has shared EQ controls. The regular Mighty Mouse has shared EQ controls, plus the extra knobs and voicing switches. Of course, my Nomad 45 cost $699 new and has totally discrete EQ controls on each of the three channels.
  18. I bought my Might Mouse head as a new demo from someone here on the forum for $399. It has shared EQ controls but there are a number of voicing knobs/switches that make it pretty easy to match up channels. The clean channel has one of the best clean tones I've ever heard.
  19. Originally posted by jimlp I was hoping for a JCM 800 style crunch/gain sound with the ability to use a boost to push it over the edge. I don't gig and my 50 watt combo is overkill at home, I have played a few class A amps though and they are far from underpowered regardless of the wattage rating. Its a great greasy blues/rock type of overdrive. Not what you think of when you see the name. Check out the Peavey Bravo and the Crate V-1512. Yes,I'm dead serious.
  20. Originally posted by Paul J. Edwards I've been a member for a few years and I've never seen "a board full of spam threads". Where do you get this from? If a so called "well respected forum regular" is complaining why do they click on the well indicated Spam Thread. This just does not make sense. If I see a thread that has a subject matter of "OT: Spam" I just don't click on it. Corporate Spam is something else but a guy wanting to unload a piece of gear is way OK. Why such the heavy hand all of a sudden? All of the things that make this forum cool is slowly evaporating. The only things that I think should be deleted are: 1. Hate speach. Racism not "I hate Metal Music" 2. Threats of violence. 3. Porno. I'm willing to agree to the girly threads. 4. Libel. Acusing others of criminal behaviour. Mr X is a child raper. Not MR. X is an asshole. The effort to make this forum anemic is underway or..... The new owners are so afraid of a lawsuit that they need to remove anything that a puritan may be offended by. I am offended by censorship. Does that count? I'm feeling queasy suddenly.
  21. Originally posted by MitchSchaft No, the mods post those rules. I don't think the mods are in charge of what the forum rules are.
  22. Originally posted by MitchSchaft He said it's about what the "owners" want, not us. Which is fine, but I want to see these "owners" tell us that. Don't the owners actually do just that by posting the rules of the forum?
