  1. I haven't shopped at Guitar Fetish in about 8 years, but my shopping experiences with them have always been good from what I can remember. Everything was very affordable, especially their hardware and pickguards. I do own a set of GFS humbuckers, which I do like and currently use in one of my guitars. But yeah, I gotta agree that their item descriptions are a bit misleading. And I also think their old website layout was better, the current layout and design looks really tacky.
  2. Hello singers! I am offering voice lessons online via Skype or Zoom. All ages and skill levels are welcome! Whether you're a professional, beginner or anything in between, this technique will help you achieve great results and can be applied to a wide variety of vocal styles including pop, rock and classical. I have been trained in the Swedish/Italian vocal technique by Maestro David Jones associate, Jeffrey Alani Stanfill. The Swedish/Italian School of Singing is based on the time-tested concepts developed by generations of voice teachers. This technique will help singers improve their voices by increasing vocal range, developing a rich and powerful tone, and gaining vocal endurance, allowing singers to sing longer without damaging the voice. All the best, -Davie Kuan

  4. Guitar and voice are good. Doesn't sound forced to me. Maybe the opposite. Could use some more energy in the vocals and infuse a bit more personality in your singing. Voice lessons would be a good idea, especially if you're serious about your singing. Some may think that voice lessons are for people who have bad voices, but its actually the opposite. Its for people with good voices that want to unlock its full potential.
  5. Hey Hannah, I've heard your singing ever since you've been on the forum and I believe that you're really talented. I also believe that you shouldn't neglect your dream either, its worth pursuing. Life's too short to be doing the things you don't like. I'm not sure about music therapy, but I think it might be a good idea to build a musical education, maybe in something more relevant/practical like vocal performance, music composition/songwriting, music production, etc. I also wouldn't bank on trying to be "discovered", too many people these days have this mentality of instant gratifaction, its just not realistic. The music industry isn't what it use to be, artists don't get as much support from the labels as in the past. But doesn't mean you can't be successful. I think its more important for yourself to be resourceful, know the business, know how to promote and market yourself and take things into your own hands. I hope this helps.
  6. Yeah, after a few weeks it REALLY changed my voice, too. That's why I stuck with it. A year later, I still feel changes inside my body (especially increased air flow and resonance from my lower stomach all the way up to my throat). A lot of people recommend vocal workouts. Other people, say don't do vocal workouts and just sing instead. Singing alone never really helped me, but vocal workouts alone isn't enough either. So, if possible, do both. You learn different things from each one. Vocal workouts exercise your voice (think of it as a physical workout to get better pipes). Singing songs help you to learn the art of singing tracks. I tried singing songs every day, but it never seem to improve my voice at all. So I decided that singing songs wasn't the best thing for building my voice. I turned to vocal workouts and instantly felt big changes within 2 weeks. Now I've done vocal workouts for over a year. So my voice feels much more agile, flexible, and hitting the right pitch is almost effortless now. It's an incredible feeling. But I never really practiced singing songs seriously. So I have trouble controlling my voice in the context of a song. So that's my next area of focus. Also, if you can afford it, get voice lessons. Find a teacher that you admire and is able to honestly critique and shape your voice in a way that you like. It seems like you're making good progress! I think I'm similar in a way. One thing is for sure, never sing (songs) with a raw voice, especially if its in the higher ranges. Gotta always warm-up. So when are you gonna post up a clip? lol
  7. I disapprove of y'all niggas' usage of the word 'voice'. Just lettin' niggas know. Of course there's only one voice. My voice sounds like MY voice no matter what I sing. But I think everyone is referring to vocal style and also vocal colour. The voice is capable of producing many different colours.
  8. I have no voice and i can not scream....... :-( we're all still waiting to hear something from you!
  9. I usually just use one main type of voice. I occasionally use other types of voices, but I try to avoid it because it sometimes tires my voice quicker or throws my registers out of balance. Some voices I use: Rock grit, bluesy twang, operatic, soft croon, countertenor. My main voice is basically a mishmash of all those. lol
  10. I think changing the lifestyle will help with the acid. And I am on flonase for the draining and that seems to be working. TMJ is a habit I need to address. Quitting caffeine should help general tenseness. But I really am constantly clenching my jaw. I basically need to train myself to be a mouth breather. lol I think its good to consciously practice releasing the jaw, like when at rest deliberately put a gap (like half a finger-width) between top and bottom teeth. I also find that breathing simultaneously through both the mouth and nose helps.
  11. You don't have to go completely vegan. Just avoid over-eating and have a balanced diet, then you should be fine. And avoid anything that you feel triggers your acid reflux. For me cold desserts and heavily-spiced foods sometimes trigger it. If you have nasal mucus problems then you could use a saline nasal rinse to clear out your sinuses. I also suffer from TMJ issues. I think it might be helpful to train yourself from teeth clenching. And also to practice singing using your fingers to hold the jaw slightly back and down. These might relieve tension.
