  1. Doesn't seem like a very practical guitar to me.. I like the headstock shape and the body shape, but the knobs and switch are just too far away. Having them next to the bridge pickup would be more ideal. That F-hole is also way too much. Most guitars with F-holes have them out of the way from the right hand. Where the F-hole is positioned in this guitar its in line with where a player's right hand might move, aka taking hard strums. Sure this guitar looks "cool" but its guitar-fengshui is totally off.
  2. I think the product reviews were how many of us discovered this site, myself included. Back in the day, HC was one of the biggest online music communities next to GS. Too many poor decisions with changes to the website caused a lot of the original features to be broken. As a result the site's SEO took a big hit. Also the emergence of other mediums (YT, reddit, etc) and the failure to adapt to the continuously evolving online landscape played a role in the site's decline. I think a lot of people just hop on YT to find reviews on things now.
  3. Wait.. you're not getting paid for this? Then who's the one dropping me off duffel bags of cash at the park trash bin every month? 😨 But yes.. we're just volunteers. 😁 The frequency of spam posts have actually gotten better lately. The latest system is pretty good at filtering them out. During one of the previous versions of the forum, we used to get almost a full page of spam in each section, some days I had to spend up to half an hour to remove them all, and we also had more active moderators back then too.
  4. Same here. I was fearing for the worst.. Let's hope everything is good now 🤞
  5. I think I've recently started having another tone epiphany.. Lately been playing a lot on my strat using the neck-only and middle-only single coil positions. It seems to slot in perfectly to the sound and style I currently want in my songs. My HSS Fender Strat was just sitting in my closet for past few years, and only just recently took it back out again. Since then I was mainly playing my HH Yamaha style-strat.. I guess some playing styles really do work better with certain guitars.
  6. Opera/classical is probably the one of the hardest genres to sing at the professional level. Many singers typically train at least 10 years to get a decent sound. In many ways its kinda like the "Olympic-level" version of singing. The repertoire is also requires a lot of detail and takes of a lot of memory. But regarding more "modern" genres, I would say metal vocals probably is one of the most difficult to sing. Such as vocals from Judas Priest and Queensryche come to mind. The combination of vocal range and intensity is what makes them challenging.
  7. Apparently one purpose is its supposed to stop the unplayed open strings from ringing out. I'm not sure if its a common phenomenon on most basses, but for example when I pluck the D string on my bass and then mute just that single string one second later, I do hear the other strings resonate or hum slightly. Do you guys experience this on your basses too? Or just me? lol
  8. Maybe, I did see one tutorial of someone playing it on one of those MusicMan basses and the tone seemed to fit. 🤔
  9. @badpenguin I've only posted this once in a few of the main channels. I'm just trying to raise awareness and get more people to take part in the community. I've discussed this with all of the active moderators and they've been supportive of this idea. As many of the site's members have noticed, the admins have neglected the community entirely, no new content updates or email newsletters in over 2 years. I'm just trying my best to encourage user interaction and keep the community relevant.
  10. I stumbled upon a few videos of guys playing bass with something wrapped around their bass guitar necks. Apparently they're called FretWraps, which is something I've only recently discovered. I know people do occasionally use foam pads to mute their bridge, but this seems specifically made for just the neck portion. Have any of you tried these before? Any thoughts on them and their benefits?
  11. Hey guys, Here is the Spotify playlist for the Harmony Central community, which consists of music created by various members of the forum. 14. Are flat wounds the immortal bass strings? 🤔 I heard that most of the legendary motown records were recorded using Precision basses strung with flat wounds I'm actually using round wounds and on a Jazz bass. Though I don't play it very often, the strings still seem good after 10 years. I'll take that as never 😄 Its probably good thing considering how expensive bass strings are
  15. That's cool. If you need some feedback with those songs, feel free to post a clip.
  16. Hey guys, just curious how often do you change your bass guitar strings? They're pretty much thick enough that they don't break at all. There's been some cases where I had to replace the strings on my 6-string electric due to being so worn that sustained notes couldn't maintain a constant pitch anymore. I've had the same strings in my bass guitar for probably 10 years or so and I haven't noticed any issues.
  17. Thanks Bieke, I listened through most of your band's songs and picked a couple of tracks that I liked the most from the more recent releases. I'm hoping to get more participants to join in on the playlist. Once I have a few people then I will post up the playlist here. If this becomes well-received in the community then I plan to regularly keep the playlist updated and populated with music.

  19. Good take. Eclectic taste will definitely yield a wide array of preferences, for sure. Personally, I'm more of a minimalist, it helps keep my OCD at bay.. lol. I really only have and use 2 electric guitars.
  20. Yeah. the noiseless-type pickups don't seem to combine well with standard pickups. My HSS strat has Fender SCN noiseless single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions, and the bridge+middle position is the worst sounding position, I don't even use it..
  21. Definitely a classic setup. I'll check them out.
  22. Cool. I actually used to own a tele that had the Fender vintage noiseless as well. The neck pup was nice, but apparently the bridge pup doesn't have the same bite as a traditional tele bridge pickup. iirc, I liked the middle position a lot too.
  23. Nice. Never had a chance to play those. What kinda guitar do you use them in?
  24. Nice. Matches your username perfectly! 😁
