I'm running Sonar 4 Studio with Windows XP on a Pentium 4, 3.2 with 1 GB of RAM. Using Echo Audiofire 8 as the interface with ASIO driver. I record simple audio tracks and am having problems with dropouts. My buffer size is set to 256 samples/5.3 msec. I've also tried 512. I'm recording at 24 bits at 44.1, and 88.2 is even worse. Even with only two or three audio tracks recorded I get occasional dropouts where there is a second or so of no sound when recording a new track. Sonar says my processor is barely working: CPU is 02 to 05% and disk is about the same. Any idea what's wrong? Thanks for your help.
