Funny you should say that. That has been my experience as well. My wife has a gay cousin and he doesn't seem to care about anyone but himself. On holidays he just locks himself in a room, comes out to eat and then leaves. He doesn't pay his young nephews any mind and is only interested in getting out to his "clubs". Were not talking about a teenager either. He's in his mid 30's. Not just him, but I've also witnessed this behavior to an extent with other homosexuals that I've encountered. They just didn't have the qualities that you would respect in a man. Seemed more like teenage girls just looking to have fun. Not trying to insult, just an observation.
  2. Originally posted by DirtyBird Yeah, that is exactly what I'm talking about. Faith or no faith in god has nothing to do with rampant materialism and the hyperbolic "decline" of western society. Most criminals and urban trouble-makers believe in God too, you know. I think it does. Going through the motions, which is pretty much what most people do isn't faith in my opinion. Saying you believe because you're afraid not to believe, but then living life in ways contradictory to your religion is not faith. I think the faith was more genuine in the old days. I'm not religious and I'm only 37, but if you observe the way our elders practice their religions you will see much more dedication, sacrifice and deep seeded faith than you will with younger people (in general). My grandmother is 86 and she lost her husband in 1965. She never remarried or dated because she says that she is still married. I have a friend who's late grandmother did the same. I'm Italian and he's Albanian so the cultures are different, but the results were the same. Lets see how many poeple show that kind of dedication these days.
  3. Originally posted by Towelie v2.0 The US got fat. It began with WWII when women became self sufficient from working in factories whilst the menfolk went off to war. After the war when the mens came back, they found their old ladies banging the strays next door. Married men tried to regain their households, but their wives had a shameless tatste of independence and the kids were fatherless and w/o structure for too long. America found itself in a newly boosted economy, and focus shifted away from traditional family life to modern materialism. Power and money were easily attainable in the new system, and drugs shifted the consciousness of abandoned American youth toward something instantly gratifying. The Age Of Aquarious finally gave young people the kind of escapism which allowed them to be completely free of traditional rules of society. A freedom which matured into the Rock N Roll excesses of the 1980's. In the wake of a newly realized disseases such as Herpes and Aids, along with an economy sucked dry by a previous generation of post-hippies and with morality at an all-time low, the youth of America gave way once again to complacency within existing social structures, and manifested itself as perhaps the most hopeless and apathetic generation in America to date; the 1990's. Music, particularly Rock N Roll of various types, was once the church of American Youth; full of energey, raw emotion, phylosphy, religion and the like, the groups they followed were unique identifiers of individuality. In the 90's, however, the lax sounds of women and acoustic ballads marked the finality of the golden years of America. We've crested the glass mountain, now heading down the other side. We've become spoiled, complacent, apathetic, without individual voice, and above all, self-serving. Morality, common courtesy, faith in God and our fellow man - the value of the spoken word - have been replaced with television, SUV's, cell phones, the Internet and chat rooms. Personal character growth has been replaced with the sense that individual opinion doesn't matter, that there's no power in numbers, and that children are the true rulers of the households of parents too busy to guide them. History most certainly repeats, and America will eventually prove to be its own demise. We're like the fattened calf heading for the slaughter. (I might be off with a few things there). Excellent post! Don't understand what Dirtybird was talking about when he wrote this "I would agree with everything you said except the Christian horse{censored}." All you said was "faith in God"? Doesn't have to be Chistian and didn't really harp on religion.

I would equate head-removing insurgents with G.I.'s who mow down innocent civilians for whatever reason. There are those who do the right thing, those that do the wrong thing and those that are simply following orders and believe they aren't responsible for their own actions. Not quite the same. G.I's who mow down civilians are put on trial and have no one backing their actions except their lawyers and family. Insugents are backed by a good number of people and I don't see too many getting caught and put on trial unless it is the US doing the catching. I've read of Muslim fathers slicing the throats of their daughters in their living rooms for having sex and disgracing their families. These people are barbaric in comparison to most other nations. Who else blows up inocent civilians, woman and children?? Look at who their leader was? A murderer with power. Here we Bash Bush for his abuse of the English language or for biking when he should be working. Saddams son's were torturing Olympic athletes for not winning golds.
  5. Originally posted by aliensex Hitler firmly believed that homosexuality is unnatural. I'm very happy that Lgehrig4 isn't drawing the conclusion that they should be eliminated. Also, why do you keep saying that boys have a penis and girls have a vagina? This is a fact that everyone (I hope) is familiar with, but I don't see how it implies anything. Thanks for sticking up for me, but if the only conclusion you've drawn about me is that I'm NOT advocating the elimination of homosexuals then you missed a lot. I never said that homosexuality is "unnatural". I never said that is should NOT be practiced or that we should hate them or disrespect them. What I did say is that I don't believe the US should recognize gay couples the same as they would hetero couples and recognize their marriages. I am as compassionate as anyone on this board. I am not liberal or conservative. I have views that agree with both sides.

I think you are in love with your command of the English lanuage and your ability to make a simple concept sound more complicated than it needs to be. Just a bit of advice, keep it simple and know your audience. We may stick the weewee in all sorts of places because it feels good, but they evolved for one reason. To procreate! It feels good to use it for one reason. So we want to procreate! Natural vs unnatural is not the issue.
  7. Originally posted by boogienights I don't know but boys have a penis and girls have a vagina, to me it really couldn't get anymore clear than this. Amen! Between this and the "gun carrying" thread I think I found a new friend! Keep it up
  8. Originally posted by BeyondDriven Everything that is claimed to be "unnatural' is either arguably very natural, arguably irrelevant to what the laws should be, or without any relevancy to what should be treated as moral and immoral. Just because some trait or activity isn't the "norm" among humans doesn't mean that it is "unnatural" and therefore "wrong." I can't believe you even argued that marriage would be "unnatural" because it cannot produce children, the supposed ostensibly natural end of marriage. To begin with, is it valid to assume that the "natural" end of marriage (or sex in general) is procreation, and that therefore non-procreative couples cannot reasonably be allowed to marry? I think not. There are two ways this premise can be refuted: by showing what its logical conclusions would be if actively employed, and by taking apart its philosophical basis. If we were to take this premise seriously, there would have to be a radical change in the laws surrounding marriages. For one thing, no infertile couples would be allowed to marry. This would include both younger people who are infertile due to health issues as well as older people who are infertile due to the progress of old age. But who would agree to that? Once again I never said unnatural. Imperfection can be natural. I think it is clear to all of us when something goes wrong. I feel homosexuality is an abberation of nature just like someone with an extra limb. If homosexuality was the intent (I only say intent b/c I don't know of any way to put this) of nature we woldn't be having this conversation. Lastly, I thought I made it clear that the only differences b/t Hets & Homs were sexual preferences. This means that I respect them no differently than I would Hets. IMO the beneifts of marriage in our society should be reserved for het couples.

  10. Originally posted by aliensex YYYEEEEEEEEEHAWW!!! LET'S ARGUE ON THE INTERNET!!!! Nature doesn't intend anything, nature happens. There is nothing unnatural, but there are things that are immoral. When you make a judgement like you're making in the post above, you are making a moral judgement. There is solid research out there hypothesizing that a homosexual family member used to be an evolutionary advantage in a large family. Marriage is a social construct originally established to control the distribution of power and the sexuality of women. Please pick up a book about early (around 20,000-10,000 B.C.) societies where most children were raised collectively. Unless you define it, there is no such thing as a perfectly developed human fetus, and you should note that any definition you can give will beg the question. Being myopic just because it makes sense to you is intellectually dishonest. You'll have to excuse my limited vocabulary. I may not always choose the best words to express my views. Never said "unnatural". Did a baby with 12 fingers develop normally? Is cancer a normal/healthy growth of cells or a disease? All of these are natural yes. I have a heart murmur. Is it natural? Yes. Does my heart beat like a normally functioning heart should? No. Marriage evolved is what I said. Your example proves this.

Face it, in the modern times, humans have moved away from the "natural" order of things. Since you like the natural state of humans so much, surely you also want to legislate the euthenasia of all the retards, diabetics, birth defect people, etc etc? They certainly wouldn't have survived in nature. While we're at it, lets throw away all our antibiotics and x-ray machines, who needs those. Wow, it didn't know it was possible to take what I said this far out of context Congratualtions! No reply from me. I'd have an easier time teaching algebra to a hamster.....and I barely know algebra myself

Originally posted by potaetoes hey, everybody, check it out. somehow, this guy found out the very intention of nature! he also is an expert on the evolution of marriage and the nature of all living creatures! When you run out of sarcasm see if you have any intelligent thoughts swimming around that you care to share.

As for not being able to say God in school, I don't know what that's all about, could be part of the separation of church and state law. I am not religious nor do I have anything against homosexuality. when a man lusts after another man or woman lusts after another woman there is a problem. Genetic? Learned? Who knows, but it goes against the nature of all living creatures - to procreate and continue the gene pool. I would never avoid or disrespect a person for being gay because they feel, care and have the same needs as heteros and outside of our sexual preferences we are the same. I will not, however, pretend that everything is normal because it is not! Lusting after the same sex is not what nature intended. An albino lacking pigment is not what nature intended. A mentally retarded person is not result of the perfectly developed fetus. That said, IMO the benefits of marriage should be only be for couples made of one man and one woman. Why? Not because God said so. Not because it is disgusting. Because only man and woman and create a child and raise the child to do the same therefore continuing the race(many do a poor job these days). Marriage evolved because humans have a reproductive instinct and ability to rationalize.
