  1. I've played electric mandolin on stage for nearly 30 years. I've owned and played several cheap electric mandolins and a couple of expensive ones. This one is very nice looking, however they missed the boat on two crucial things: Neck and pickups. The neck is ridiculously fat and clunky and the pickups are weak. I really don't think double unison courses do well on a magnetic pickup instrument. The sound of an 8-string mandolin is from the sound of two slightly out of tune strings and the natural 'chorus' effect created by the strings and the body.
  2. I bought another one for a friend's son. It's introduced my son to the world of mandolin, because he was too cool to play a 'folk/bluegrass' instrument. He liked the look of this and now enjoys the acoustic mando!!
