  1. Fair enough - I was just being scratchy anyway. I should know better.
  2. Move to the future peeps. Those old things have no business in the modern world and should be upgraded. It should be illegal to sell an ungrounded mains voltage device full stop. Yes, we know that it's a "Prevent Death Cap", but that doesn't have much panache. Just like a burglar alarm doesn't mean you get burglers if you install one.
  3. I had a different LL36 moment for sure. The one I played belongs to a friend and had a pro setup and great strings. It's a sublime guitar in every way. Easily sits in the company of other guitars in that price range.
  4. Please stop mixing quality and grade. A top end boutique acoustic and an entry level acoustic are the same quality if they're made to their design specs. The difference is the GRADE of the instruments.
  5. Anyone that thinks Yamaha are overrated needs to try an LL36 or LL26.
  6. I'm always dubious of the "huge variance" that people go on about with Gibsons. My experience has been nothing of the sort. I blast them for their pricing, but they make great guitars. I've never played a dud.
  7. I've only played a handful of Gibson acoustics over the years and they've all been really good guitars with great sound. The best of them I still consider to be the best sounding acoustic that I've ever played.
  8. I think the book "The Tipping Point" describes how this sort of thing happens if you're interested.
  9. Ahhh - I thought it might be a hipster thing. My neighbour has a hipster DJ friend that thinks selecting a record to play is the musical equivalent to performing a song live. I'm not kidding - he calls himself a musician.
  10. Wow, I had no idea vinyl was trendy again. I prefer digital, but I have fond memories of records from when I was a kid.
  11. I've had good experiences with Yamaha. I disagree with the idea that they only do the lower end of the market. They have all levels covered and are bang-for-buck in all grades, from beginner to professional.

It can work fine, but MAKE SURE that the string makes contact with the front of the slot, otherwise all of the other notes on that string will be sharp when you tune it to the open string.
  17. What I don't get is why it matters if he had problems growing up or not. I can't think of anything less relevant when discussing a musician. The "dues" you pay are the thousands of hours of practice.
  18. The term we use here for the sort of jealous hatred that he faces is called "tall poppy syndrome" here. Jealousy is a strong emotion.
  19. I sure hope he reads this thread. He'll piss himself laughing.
  20. I don't hate him at all. I was making fun of OP, whose commentary on that interview read a whole lot different than the interview I saw.Oh {censored} - sorry Jeff.
