1. That's exactly like the one I played nice, I like this one a lot I might have to get the daughter something else and keep this one for myself haha
2. zuzuman, do you happen to have a link to that press release?...I can find it on the special but nothing on the special x
3. See Morgan's post above. Guitar manufacturers often issue a few guitars in a color only to decide not to a full release in that color. If you got a red one, then yours is pretty rare. Yeah I caught morgans post after I posted thanks for your help as well morgan Here are a couple pictures although they look horid and every light and finger print just jumps out through this camera phone quality image haha. Im asuming this would be red, sence its def not burst atleast not a burst Im use to seeing.
4. That serial number makes it 2006, which is when the Special was first released. Just read the announcement press release, and they produced a limited number of cherry sunbursts that year. It sounds like that's what you have. Nice and thank you for that piece of information. I thought it was dragons blood but looking at the masterpiece posted in that color I thought the one I bought was a little darker. *edit after looking at the burst color mines deffinately not that either : / ......Mine is a solid color maybe just called red ?
5. I re-read your post and realize that yours is a neck-though.... definitely NOT a Masterpiece & absolutely a good score at $400 Thats what I dont understand, this color looks like dragons blood, its not burst like the ones I have seen. Its the same color maybe a hint darker than the guitar you have here on the right I thought it was called dragons blood but Im probably worng. Ill get a pic up here I left and forgot all about taking one. Its got an ebony board, cloud inlays, 22 frets, arched quilt maple top, mahogany body, neck through (masterpiece is bolt on) and pick ups are rockfield swv, tone pros tune o matic and stop bar.....Has the Special x cover as well. Im not sure where this color came from I didnt think it was offered in the special x thats got me stumped. But what I can say is this, I realy realy like the sound of this one. The cleans are so nice and yet it gets dirty when driven. This lesser guitar atleast I thought it was a lesser guitar sounds better than my prestige to me and thats something I realy didnt see happening. Its suppose to be a special x but the color isnt special x , anyone ever seen that happen ? serial number is 64109967 if that helps identify it.
6. Thanks for the posts guys, I'll take a few pics to throw up on here.
7. Nice vid, even nicer cover : ) I like the white color he's playing , the one I bought is dragons blood I think its called.
8. SO to make a long story short, my daughter had to have this guitar, and yeah you know how that went she got it. I dont know a thing about it other than its perfect condition, not a blemish to be found original hardware. I looked at the review and it was very good to say the least, however we know how reviews go. I looked at this one all evening trying to find something wrong with it just to not buy it and couldnt come up with anything I personaly dis like other than the neck size everything else Im happy with and being a neck through is a plus sence we dont currently have one lying around the house. SO tell me, price paid was $400 was that to much ? Also where does this guitar stand with the others in the price range its made for? Pro's and cons from owners of a special or special x or anyone who have played one for a little while would be helpfull. No brand bandwagoners please, this isnt a lets bash a certain company thread : )
