  1. Meh. Neither one of 'em is Raquel Welch in her prime! Yeah but RW seems high-maintenance/low deliverence. You just know Sophie was a goer.
  2. I have trouble thinking of any conservatives who fall into the "windbag celebrity" unless I'm counting TV/Radio personas and political commentators. I guess there's always the Nuge. Nugent is a nutbag, but eminently entertaining. And that always delivers.
  3. well, she's no Sophia Loren....I'll give you that.... You'll give me Sophia? Why thank you, thank you very much.
  4. As much as I disagree with the majority of political sentiment here, I do agree with the general consensus on these idle celebrity "threats", though, regardless of which side they come from. I'm actually somewhat embarrassed that this silliness seems more prevalent amongst celebrities who identify themselves with the progressive side, though "regressives" as I call them aren't immune from it either, there's more than a few right-wing windbags guilty of similar nonsense. Like who? I always enjoy equal time.
  5. I've always had the hots for Susan Sarandon, but her political statements make her seem loopy. She said she would leave the country if George W. Bush was elected, and two elections later she's still here. She's not going anywhere, which is good for our eyes but bad for our ears Let her go. We can still enjoy her yaboes from Canada or Italy or wherever. You don't really think she'd refuse to do work that was shown (read; sold) in the US, do you? And even if she did, I'm sure her breasts can be seen from space. We've got the technology.......
  6. Well, she is 61... It was still butter when she was a spring chicken.
  7. My favorite of the past election defection threats wasn't even a defection....Elton John, oh pardon Sir Elton John stated quite emphatically (as flamers are wont to do) that if Bush was elected, he wouldn't set foot in the US again. If I'm not mistaken I've seen old Reggie at the Wachovia Center in Philly, and at Celine's personal theater at Caesar's in Vegas, where he was, if not still is, performing whenever Dion was not. But none of these threats are surprising. After all, they come from people who are so {censored}ing spoiled they probably have someone wipe their ass, and then fire the poor bastard after every {censored}. When they don't get their way, hissy-fits are expected.
  8. She seems to be hanging loose to me... Not to mention....butter face.
  9. There's something totally 'not right' with this photo........
  10. Anything Jack Casidy Is he anywhere near as good as Jack Casady? :poke:
  11. Anything from the late Dee Murray of Elton John's original band. Dude had tone and lines to die for. *Ew, that didn't come out as intended....
  12. Okay, thread is stickied. I suggest editing your original post if you've modified your rig. Definitely easier to keep track if it. No problem with some comments as long as we don't go off on tangients in this thread....start a new thread to discuss issues, ask questions etc. and refer (preferably link) back here as needed. If this seems reasonably agreeable, I'll go back and edit out the unrelated posts to 'clean up'.

  19. Originally posted by twostone Exactly what kind of hollow body guitar do you play, could be from guitar pickups. Harmony Meteor and Hollywood. Stuffing the body does work, but as where02190 points out, it makes little sense to play a hollowbody if you're going to eliminate the hollow body.
  20. I mostly use my system in support of my own band. What I've got: Peavey RQ2318 JBL SR4735X(2) JBL SR4719X(2) QSC RMX2450(2) and PLX3402 Shure PSM200 dbx 166X DOD SR431QRX dual 31-band EQ dbx DRPA SM-58 SM-57 e835 D-6 Why I use it: My goal is a good system for rock, that's relatively small so I can move and use it alone if necessary. The quality of sound is excellent, so in this respect I consider the rig a success. What I would change or add: I'll replace the DOD EQ with a pair of dbx 1231's, though the unit does seem to do okay. Probably get a second PSM-200, and whatever wedges I decide to buy or build. A TC effects unit will replace the Lexicon mpx110 I sold a few months ago. When I 'run out of channels', an A&H GL2400 will most likely be the replacement, but I'm relatively happy with the Peavey's performance...it's quiet, and reliable, but two more aux's would be nice.

Originally posted by Bonoman It's always better to try because that way, even if things don't work out, you can at least take comfort that you made every effort to do the right thing and save the relationship. Exactly. It's better to try than be angry. Even if you wind up not having a close or even friendly relationship, if you can find some mutual respect that's better than nothing, and it could leave the door open to improvements later. People, even dad's, change over time. You will too, and it might turn out that you two find some common ground then.
  22. Originally posted by el_duderino676 I know that I rant about this almost every week, but I can't {censored}ing stand my family. My dad and brothers especially. I can't wait until I can move out for good. Yeah, I had the same trouble. Eventually I didn't talk to my parents for over ten years. My father died during this time, about 4 years ago, and it's a constant reminder of what an ASS I was for not finding a way to work things out. Everyone has reasons for doing and thinking what they do, and few of the reasons have anything to do with trying to make your life miserable.
  23. Originally posted by J.B. Lee Well I'm glad I posted this. Fascinating subject, no? As near as I can figure the Hofner's neck was not glued to the body at the heel in the traditional manner. Rather, they left a small gap, with the neck being attached between the fretboard and the front of the body. This would seem to be a rather delicate situation in terms of sturdiness, but after 40 years it's still his main bass! Seems like it would've been a hell of a lot easier to just put a couple of strap pins on though. The only suitable spot to put pins is where he wound up with one...on the heel of the neck. It's not a great spot, and it's relatively easy to 'peel' the strap off by tilting the bass. Hofners are very delicate, and it cost a lot of time and money to keep McCartney's main Hofner going all these years. I've always said they would have long ago been only a memory if not for him.
