    not much. you get box, you take what you need/want, you deposit something in it's place. mail it to the next closest member.

     

    personally, i ended up with a bottom hat and two pearl tom mounts. i put in a couple of splashes and a couple of books i got a ton out of in my beginning years (after i played thru them again, lol.)

     

    funny how generous this box ended up being.

    someone made a list of who wanted it and where they were. then, we went down the list, according to distance. that way, my box came from eastern PA and i ended up shipping it to ohio (i'm in west PA.) that way it kept shipping costs down. i think i paid about $10.

  3. I have come to the conclusion that aging sucks! My knees are an issue for me.

    I like sitting low with my
    knees slightly elevated to my rear end
    . And even though I know have everything adjusted low (which required me going to short "fast" toms), ... I have started to raise my throne slightly, as at the end of a gig, I have to have help getting up now!! (augh!)

    thought thighs were supposed to be parallel to the floor?? that's the way i've always heard it. you play heal-up?

     

    i've biked a bunch in my past and have pretty strong muscles in my thighs. i've been lifting my legs up so that my feet barely touch the pedals. therefore, my ankles are the ones that flex when i play. my knees only take impact when i accent.

    EDIT: was trying to fix this since last night. i was referring to the sg comment and got confused. sg neck dives can be fixed by moving the button to beneath the upper horn. you're right about the pauls, unless you want to be silly and tie at the headstock. moving the button at the butt does help. tho.

  5. i took a long break from drumming in my twenties, and when i came back, my wrists hurt like a bitch. i had mainly been a metal drummer, and thought hitting hard = good drumming. all of that shock transfer told my wrists otherwise. i quickly remembered my "old" instructor having to go thru carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists, and extensive therapy.

     

    therapy is the key, along with changing your drumming habits!

     

    i dropped my heavy 2b sticks and now play 5a's. my kit is totally reachable, without much movement (thinking more about torso movement,) and when i want volume, i let the stick drop down for a rimshot instead of using my whole arm drive it into the drum. lower and flatter cymbals, too. just research (and ask here,) how to change your playing to be more effective and safe.

     

    drumming after injury? for sure.
