  1. it took me far too long to actually invest in a good throne. played about 17 years before getting a roc-n-soc. just could never justify spending that kind of change on a seat. what a difference it makes, man. i can play longer, better mobility, etc. totally under appreciated part of the kit.
  2. thanks for the review, d. sounds pretty cool.. and reasonable price, to boot. (kickback, kickback, lol.)(although, upon second look, link above sends me to g1 head, not 360 head, oops...)anyway, i didn't see mention of coating? i prefer a coated reverse dot, so this doesn't seem too far (unless no coating.) i like the idea of it seating better, just sounds natural. especially for a lower tuning. i would love to hear a lower tone, instead of a "splat." that said, i'm psyched to hear the review of the 360 kick head, as if similar, it's be most appropriate, especially seeing how most go for the low tuning (jaw.) personally, i've always gone a little more than jaw to get the ring i want, but it'd be nice to get a more natural lower tuning without it sounding "flappy," which is what i'm imagining. i've been a remo man for years, but this is the first time i'm actually psyched to play something new. keep me posted, man. thanks dendy...
  3. right on! good timing too, i had just switched to pearl optimounts.
  4. i remember getting a cymbal and two pearl tom mounts outta that. loaded that thing with my favorite book and a pocketful of lint. naked picture of me as well. (that may have stopped the box in it's tracks.)
  5. that sucks, brother. you'd think guys that sit all the time would have less knee probs.
  6. I have come to the conclusion that aging sucks! My knees are an issue for me. I like sitting low with my knees slightly elevated to my rear end. And even though I know have everything adjusted low (which required me going to short "fast" toms), ... I have started to raise my throne slightly, as at the end of a gig, I have to have help getting up now!! (augh!) D thought thighs were supposed to be parallel to the floor?? that's the way i've always heard it. you play heal-up? i've biked a bunch in my past and have pretty strong muscles in my thighs. i've been lifting my legs up so that my feet barely touch the pedals. therefore, my ankles are the ones that flex when i play. my knees only take impact when i accent.
  7. I think that was the idea behind the Strat's horn. Pauls need a body brace that'll hang the peg out where it belongs. or a kane roberts shoulder.
  8. onda back, like an sg. and move the butt post up an inch. or, steer folks toward an ash or mahog tele with twin humbuckers. EDIT: was trying to fix this since last night. i was referring to the sg comment and got confused. sg neck dives can be fixed by moving the button to beneath the upper horn. you're right about the pauls, unless you want to be silly and tie at the headstock. moving the button at the butt does help. tho.
  9. i used to work in a guitar shop doing repairs, and i have to say, consider changing strap button placement before replacing the guitar. i had a friend looking to ditch a guitar for neck dive, i moved the button slightly, prob fixed.
  10. that's reason enough to not do your homework!! sllloooowwww recovery!!!
  11. with all dem wirds, knight is prolly rubbin' on the ben ghey!!
  12. i took a long break from drumming in my twenties, and when i came back, my wrists hurt like a bitch. i had mainly been a metal drummer, and thought hitting hard = good drumming. all of that shock transfer told my wrists otherwise. i quickly remembered my "old" instructor having to go thru carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists, and extensive therapy. therapy is the key, along with changing your drumming habits! i dropped my heavy 2b sticks and now play 5a's. my kit is totally reachable, without much movement (thinking more about torso movement,) and when i want volume, i let the stick drop down for a rimshot instead of using my whole arm drive it into the drum. lower and flatter cymbals, too. just research (and ask here,) how to change your playing to be more effective and safe. drumming after injury? for sure.
