  1. I spent on my gear in HS. I have a '68' Vette today. My HS gear that I still have has more value than my Vette does. That of course is a crapshoot. If you aren't blowing your load on something unique (which is hit or miss in the future), don't worry about it. Get what makes you happy and get the other {censored} on the back end when you have a job.
  2. i still do, its new, got it from a friend slit the sheets with his woman 3200.00 is what he had to have , and if you want it and you have cash its yours ! i got alot going on now send me your phone no. i will call call after get home from doctors office tues afternoon. thanks lee He emailed me back! ha ha . . . . for a friend. . This is sweet. Counteroffer $1850, the last penny you have for the month, tell him you know it's low but it's the best you can do and you'd consider it a favor. When he takes it show up in blackface with a certified check and tell him in a thick nigerian accent you are the man to take delivery and here is the check. If he says "cash only" tell him you have the proper ATM deposit if hell take that. Then whip out a rubber footlongdoubledong and hit him in the mouth as hard as you can. Hopefully you break his teeth. While stunned, hit him three or four times to the now protected face until you see blood streaming out of his nostrils. Wrap the dong around his neck and choke him until he falls to the ground. {censored} him hard in the ass with the dong and as he comes to from the rectum shredding agony, shriek at the top of your lungs, "ONE ATM DEPOSIT, COMING UP!" then take the buggering end of the double dong and shove it in his bloody mouth as he chokes on it. While he frantically flails his arms, counter-offer him $14 dollars. I'll bet he'll take it.
  3. Dude, get a used epi V for cheap and overhaul it. As much as I love trems, especially floyds, I can't see the Gibson buying crowd being ok with an instrument that has been modded in that way. Resale value may not be that important to you now, but there's a recession going on and you never know. The OP is free to speak for himself, but I would wager that he doesn't have the money to pull in a Shred V (otherwise he could get a far surperior Jackson KV), and this is a very shitty market to try dumping a guitar right now, so he might be trying to make due with what he has even though it may/may not be the best move in the long run. Real FR: $100-$150 Routing/setup: $100-$200 ??? That alone puts a cost of $200-$350 on the existing guitar. Best case on an Epi V is $300 used after shipping because the odds of one on the local craigslist outside of a metropolis are nil. Thus, an Epi project = $500-$650 ASSUMING total satisfaction right there. There could be another $50-$250 desired for upgrading tuners and/or pickups (cheaper costs used offset by installation costs), which I'll round out to $125 for minimal upgrades, or moderate used upgrades self-installed. Now you're at $625-$775 for a secondhand Epi V, which is 50-66% of the cost of a used Jackson KV2. If he took a bath on the Gibson and applied the "Epi cash" to the solution, he could score an amazing Jackson on Ebay... or he can throw $250-$300 at the problem using his existing axe.
  4. I own 2 RRs and one KV2, all US and owned one Jap RR in the past. How do Jackson necks feel? All I can say is "right".
  5. For performance, Floyd > Kahler by a mile. For ease of installation/reversability Kahler > Floyd by a mile For resale value that's up to the buyers interested at the time. My solution was to get a Jackson KV2, but if I wanted a tremolo on a Gibson, I'd ask myself how serious I was about it. If it was for performing (Dime squeals, dive bombs, etc) I would get the floyd. If I wanted to fuck around and see if I like tremolos, I'd get the kahler so I could reverse it if I wasn't happy with it.
  6. I've seen it done. Doesn't look too pretty, but here's an example of the Lonnie Mack Flying V: I think he's talking about a Floyd. I doubt there's neck angle trouble, but I am not positive. They made a 25.5" V with FR in the 80s but they could have changed the neck angle. I thought The Shred V and/or the Tribal V, both '67' RIs were FRs but they were actually Kahlers no locking nut. The problem from my recollection is someone doing a shitty route job which caused all sorts of problems or buying a crappy licensed FR instead of the real deal. The right parts and labor will solve those issues, however. It will just cost you a pretty penny, and could stunt resale. The easiest on the wallet and resale is to go Kahler, which bolts right on, but they tend to slip out of tune more easily than FRs and you still need a locking nut.
