  1. Did Peavey buy the Composite Acoustics name and are they putting out carbon fiber guitars now?
  2. Just sold my Classic 60s Shell Pink Strat in a package deal with a Fender Champion 600 amp, offbrand Hard Shell Case, Guitar Stand, Fender gigbag all for $800. First put the ad up in February and sold it this afternoon. 7 Months. Week after week reposting the ad. Many people sending me emails saying "good luck selling it, you're way over priced" but I knew there would be one person out there who would really want Shell Pink. I knew, cause I'm like that. I just have waaay to many Shell Pink guitars so decided to let this one go. Patience is the key.
  3. Also, I'm not sure how that guy was shipping so cheap but UPS and Fed Ex offer Volume Discounts to big corporations and those companies allow you to ship from their mailroom (if you work for the company) if you pay back the cost.
  4. I don't know where you ship, but I haven't seen $29 shipping in 10 years. Amazing that there's such a discrepancy. That PRS in the big case is HEAVY and I'm sure would cost me close $100 to ship and insure. Been shipping gear for years and have never found prices as low as your getting. I've gone through Staples UPS ship center, Kinkos FedEx, and Mailboxes Etc. I don't bother with the post office because of their limited hours. Its frustrating because if I could ship for $30 I would. EDIT: I just checked the UPS estimator and it said $50 to Albuquerque. That's still higher than what you're paying and I know it will be much higher going through a contracted ship center like staples. honestly I don't know where I could ship direct, seems everywhere I look to ship, its a business owned by a third party. Have you thought about signing up for your own UPS and Fed Ex account? I have both but needed them for a different situation. You then just have to drop off at a UPS Store or FED Ex accepted place. I still worry about leaving it there so for UPS I drop it off directly at UPS and you get a confirmation slip from UPS proving you dropped the package off and what time. I go to the UPS office in Sylmar. IT is an actual UPS distribution center. There's a UPS office on Santa Monica Blvd near the Mormon Temple. Not sure where you are. YOu can also drop off the Fed Ex package at a Fed Ex Office location. I know there used to be one in Tulaca Lake/Burbank. It doesn't cost anything to sign up for a personal acct except for a credit card so they can charge you the cost of shipping.
  5. Yeah gotta go with Craigslist. UPS and Ebay fees you make about the same on CL.
  6. Yeah I don't want to be the dick that comes out and say this, but be happy you got $349 for an MIM Strat regardless if it was 60th Anniversary. In the end it is still made in MEXICO and unless it says made in AMERICA no one is going to give you a penny more. Most people think their gear is worth more than it really is. Sorry to be the realist :-( I have to agree with this. It was a realistic price, plus he has to pay shipping which I always factor into the cost. so with est. 25 shipping that's 375, an ok average deal. Now I sold a Classic 50s Tele Blond but had a HUGE chip of pain on the bottom and a few dings - my tech dropped it! - and sold it for 250, played perfectly. From the time the ad went up to cash in hand - 40 minutes. Most MIMs on CL should go for 200 to 300. Sold an epiphone white studio for 200, epis always big drop in price. Custom epi in white with epi hsc for 400. oh well, I had fun with them while I had them and had that 'new guitar thrill' which is a high that is hard to place a value on.
  7. Im personally loving it currently! I got a 1994 MIM Strat in perfect like new condition for 200 last week and I snagged a Big Muff Pi for 20 bucks. and a Digitech Gnx pedal for some unreasonably low price a while back It's all about perspective.
  8. I've also noticed how much used gear is now at Guitar Center too.
  9. Ebay and Craigslist will be better at Christmas regardless of the economy. People still gotta give presents.
  10. George Jetson, Han Solo didn't like his Goldtop due to the black back. He said he will be selling his for 999 w/shipping. He has a thread on this forum. Crazy in my opinion. Guitar looks awesome!
  11. You can price match with Music123 for $185 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/danelectro-1956-single-cutaway-with-bottle-headstock-electric-guitar/h25343000003001 Thank you for posting this. Didn't want to jinx myself till I got them. Based on this price match, called MF and asked if they would sell me the White Guitar and the Black Bass for 185 each based on M123 offer. After only one counteroffer they agreed since I had bought a lot from them and I was buying 2 items. Came in on Sat and picked them up today. Guitar was fine except of a buzz on open D string (I put a tiny piece of paper in the nut slot, buzz gone! now a totally sweet guitar!) I love the White with the bell headstock. The bass was in fine conditon out of the box.
  12. Talked him down to $350. Going to check it out tomorrow. Now, that's a steal! Good luck. By the way, for me, the 000X1 has a very nice bass sound. Guitar HAS the Martin sound for me.
  13. I own a D-28 2005, D-28 1973, D-35, HD-35, 000-15, 000-18, D-17 and just bought a 000x1 and gotta tell you I LOVE IT! Great sound, mine came from Musicians Friend and it was set up perfectly, very low action, really easy to play with a beautiful sound. I use it to play at the office. If it plays well and sound good to you BUT IT! Great deal especially if it comes with HSC. If its an older one it will even be made in the USA. Mine made in Mexico. Laminate is cheaper but that is why the guitar is cheaper! There's a reason for the laminate, so Martin can make a nice guitar at an affordable price. Guitar will also be less prone to weather issues as well. Again, I really dig this guitar.
  14. I GOTTA get me a Road Worn 60s strat! Who oh Why did you embed that photo....WHY!!! I will not recover from a certain aquisition syndrome until I get that guitar!
  15. There is NO comparison between Swift and any others you have mentioned above. Yes, she has written songs, and plays guitar (a Taylor, no less...) - good for her. So does Michelle Branch, who came out firing hot with her song "Everywhere" when she was 18 (a MUCH better song than ANYTHING TS has done)...anyone heard from MB lately ??? Bottom line is, with Madonna, Jagger, Springsteen, Townshend, et, al that you mentioned above, they had SOMETHING DIFFERENT that people realized very quickly. They were revolutionary. They changed music and made their mark...TS is a product of a HUGE marketing push by desperate record company folks who are DYING to get their next pop tart out there. And the fact that she's being pushed as a country artist is such a big joke that even Shania Twain has to be laughing... In 1964 many people thought The Beatles were a joke. I Want To Hold You Hand with it's cookie cutter lyrics. People thought a pop band's shelf live was 1 year 2 at best. Madonna was derided for many many years before people finally realized her talent. The early Who hits were not mega hits in America. They had to build their audience by touring, continuing to release albums and basically hanging in there. The first 2 Bruce Springsteen albums flopped. He was a bout to be dropped. Next Bob Dylan my ass is what most people said. Linda Ronstadt struggled for many years before Heart Like A Wheel came out and began her string of platinum albums. Neil Young's early solo albums were not huge hits. It was only when he joined Crosby Stills and Nash a supergroup that he began to have name recognition. I'm not saying Taylor Swift will be Madonna or Linda Ronstadt, but sometimes you never know. It takes years sometimes to evaluate an artist if they are able to maintain a career.
  16. I don't understand the infatuation people seem to have with Taylor Swift. The girl really doesn't sing very well. If she was unknown and auditioned for American Idol, she would never get that gold ticket to Hollywood, much less have a chance to sing on TV. No real voice... Does Neil Young sing "well?" Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Townshend. I remember trying to get my friends in 1978 to get on board with the Boss. Took 'em to No Nukes movie and they all hated him thought he was a phony playing up the to the camera. Jackson Browne was the fave. I remember the first time I heard After The Goldrush and that voice was a bit strange. Actually same w/Springsteen. Grateful Dead seemed to have a nice long career with no notable "singers" Oh by the way, I am not a huge fan of Taylor's but she has gained a sizeable audience, plays guitar and writes songs. Not bad. John Lennon was 23 when Meet The Beatles came out in America. Only time will tell with Taylor. No one (but me who was the only person in my circle of friends who championed her) thought Madonna would still be here. Oh yeah another "non" singer.
