1. It's cool to see Allman so high. And nice to see Mickey Baker, Ike Turner and Eddie Hazel. Also Jansch and Thompson. Of course the omissions are more striking; Chet, Merle, Tommy Emmanuel, Marcel Dadi, Curtis Mayfield, Cornell Dupree, Gary Moore, Uli Jon Roth... and probably 50 or so substitutions I would make. Hell, I don't even think they picked my favorite Blue Cheer guitarist.
2. It sounds like you are talking more about the band and not Eddie as a musician. I agree, the band Van Halen will never be known for songs with well crafted messages. They were always a party band. Eddie is the only reason why I am a Van Halen fan. His playing makes the band for me. See, I'm on the other side of that, I can appreciate Van Halen as a band with a bunch of great, fun, dumb songs, they're totally awesome at that, and I have a ton of respect for Eddie but his guitar playing never really captured my imagination. I guess it's because I wasn't playing back then and didn't really pay much attention to the band until years later. I'm not saying he's not great, I just never listened all that closely and I can't stand "Eruption". Good pop songwriter though for sure.
3. WHO and who cares. and anyone who likes the Sex Pistols and/or Guns and Roses.
4. too funny. I don't think the #1 junkie of New York is viable from a marketing stand point. Just being realistic, I love the man & his music myself but a signature guitar. He couldn't even be counted on to show up to a gig with a guitar of his own. Well Chelsea Guitars always seems to have a couple yellow Juniors on display and I imagine they turn them over pretty quickly, I think you could sell out a limited run just to European tourists in New York. Problem is that while Thunders fans are roughly the same age as Clapton and Gilmour fans I'm gonna go out on a limb and say fewer of them are dentists and stock brokers so it couldn't be a $25,000 Custom Shop deal. So yeah, in order to sell it would have to be cheaper than the $2,500 one they're selling now and I can't imagine that Johnny's name would sell enough to make that worthwhile.
