  1. I play indie rock and worship music (if that is a style). I have been through quite a few ODs, and also currently own a number of others (Boss BD2, OD3, Barber LTD, Dano TOD, Dano Drive, Bad Monkey, Route 808) and right now the two ODs on my board are the Open Road and Route 808 - I am trying to figure out how to fit the LTD on somehow though. The other pedals on my board are: Boss TU2, Visual Sound Liquid Chorus, Sansamp Liverpool, Boss DD7 and Boss RV5. These guys make great pedals. I am also impressed that they donate a portion from every sale they make to help fight HIV/AIDS in Africa through the work of EngageHIV. I will probably buy more of their pedals as well. If lost or stolen, I would quickly buy a new one.
  2. Sansamp Acoustic DI - PRICE REDUCED: $90 shipped Alesis Nanoverb - Traded Great condition, with power supply, manual and box Trace Acoustic TA30 amp - $210 shipped obo Great little amp! Really crisp, clean acoustic sound with 30 watts, 8" speaker and tweeter, reverb, eq, "shape" switch, line out... Boss BF-3 - Sold! Boss AC-3 - Sold! Totally up to consider trades. Really looking for a volume pedal right now. All prices are shipped and paypal'd in Canada and the US.
  3. In regards to the Sansamp pedals - do they sound good plugged directly into a mixer channel (ie : not into a guitar amp) - as the whole point of this, is to not have to lug my amp to this small gig. Yeah, they are designed to run direct straight to the mixer (for recording or live). They can work through an amp, but need to be tweaked differently. I use mine direct to the mixer all the time (both live and recording), and am VERY pleased with the sound. And it takes pedals really well. I usually keep it set to clean or on the edge of breakup, and use my other ods to add the crunch.
  4. and i also found a piece of plexi glass left over from our drum shield that i can cut so it will fold around the front of my amp there will not be any problems. This is always a big challenge. Especially with churches. At my church I do run direct, through a Sansamp Liverpool (with good results IMHO), but still need a little amp on stage for my personal control. I don't always trust the sound guy to give enough in the monitors. So I bring my little VOX pathfinder, and have it beside me, tilted back a little. And I built a little plexi-glass shield for it as well. I've gone off the stage to check the results of the plexi, and it really makes a good difference. The sound is nice, but there aren't any hot-spots in front of it, and I can still hear it clearly on stage.
  5. Another vote for Sansamp Character series. I use the Liverpool model. I also have heard great things about the Blonde. I suppose it depends on the tone you want - be it Vox, Fender, Marshall etc... I also had used the ole kidney bean POD for a few years. I definitely prefer the sounds I get out of the Sansamp over the POD.
  6. Thanks for posting the shootout. Quite impressive how they compare. I have been recording vox with a Rode NTK, but have been having the same issue on a more intense rock vocal for a song... wanting to try some other mics and whatnot to bring out the best for the song... and thus enjoying this thread. Thanks for posting. I think I will try the sm58 tonight and see how it compares.
  7. I'm very interested as well. The hiss makes it unuseable for me. And EQ pedal might work. The best solution I've found is running it through something with cabinet modeling... it seems to cut just enough of those highs, while still retaining the "acoustic" sizzle. I've run it through my Sansamp Liverpool (set to clean), and it cuts out the hiss, and thickens it up a bit; it sounds pretty decent. I've also tried it through the Sansamp Acoustic DI, which has some kind of tube pre modeling that kind of does the same thing. But, I think I am just too much of an acoustic purist, if I want an acoustic sound, I just bring my acoustic guitar instead. But, the AC-3 can get some 3-dimensional clean sounds, which can be cool, as long as you get rid of the hiss.
