  1. And, when you wack it down to 16/44k in a mixdown, it sounds worse than just using 16/44k from the beginning in my experience. No, Dithering helps, and its what about everyone in the entire recording industry does. How many albums you think are tracked straight into pro tools at 44.1/16. I bet none in the last couple years. I hate to get masters in 16/44.1, id much prefer a higher sample rate to play with until I dither.
  2. what percent of singers think theyve been autotuned, probably less than 50% How many have actually been autotuned, alot more than 50%. As an engineer its your job to make the band sound the best you can in the shortest amount of time. Ive definately used autotune on mixes that couldnt be helped. After the upteenth time trying a part with a singer they start to lose it, you just have to make the best of it. The pitch software is mainly something for budget studios or home recording where the singer may be one step up from a karaoke singer. Often the bands cant pay much and expect alot. Even then if the person is off alot it wont fix it. The only time I use it is when I know the singer sucks and wont be able to hit certain notes nomatter how many tracks they do. It must be nice to live in perfect land huh:confused:
