You might consider setting up an RTA microphone out where your audience is to fine tune and know what frequencies you're generating? What size gongs you using low down?

I like the idea of wearing 2 small omni mics where normally there would be headphones too..

If you want the audience to hear close to what you're hearing perhaps some kind of this?

$$ experiment with the mics you have, do not concern yers elf with what mics are supposed to be for etc. off axis cardioid , Omni, figger 8 etc. run a mixer and combine, beware possible phase issues however. mic edge of gong etc...crazy sometimes moving a mic 1" changes sound
