  1. It's finally finished!!! It took way longer than I expected, but it's finished. again this is how it started, well it started as an empty concrete place, but and now we have this sorry for the glare. I can't wait to start using this. Recording will be easier practicing will be easier and things will finally just be organized and controllable.
  2. I use snakes and I try to keep everything separated... but I still have a spaghetti bowl. I don't know, just keep stuff bundled together with some ties or tape where you can sorta like a big snake with no covering on the cables going to the snake. Make sure to tape that to the floor or something so it stays running where you want it to. You could also Run stuff along the walls if you want, or along any raised areas you might have. That's what I would do if it bothered me that much.
  3. how do you all hide the cables... I've tried everything? is their some kind of trick or secret to it? a snake and cable ties/gaff tape? What do you mean?
  4. hey goood luck man thanks man. We started the ceiling today, with just me and my friend. I'm getting the feeling two dudes is not the best way to sheet rock a ceiling. That stuff was hard. But we got a few sheets up there. Then we started working on putting sheet rock mud on stuff. We got it all over ourselves but its looking alright. The place won't look perfect, but all we're paying for is materials so i'm glad I decided to do it myself. I've only spent about $450 on materials so far. I might need a little more insulation and some paint and i'm done. I'd be paying two or three times as much to have somebody do this; course i'd be done already, but I try not to think about that.
  5. I'm finally starting to get rid of the massive untreated space in my concrete building and i'm building one 17X17 room. I'm using 1/2" sheet rock on both sides with r-30 insulation inbetween. Then I'm gonna cover a ton of it in studio-foam. It's only been about five days and I've got the sheet rock up on the inside and i've started the insulation. Here's my one pic, but I'll post more as it progresses. I think i'm doing alright for having never framed or sheet rocked walls. I have one friend that helps me sometimes but thats it. Without his nail gun though I would still be on the framing process. I'm gonna put the little control booth that I have right in front of it. So I can have the recording stuff in there and that will maximize soundproofing when inside there. I'm getting a firestudio and a snake to compliment this nice new room, because I have an inspire gt and a ton of loose and long cables right now and it annoys me.
  6. Here's all the pics I have of my crappy setup, and equipment. I don't have any room shots, but it isn't special at all. I am not gonna call it a studio right now, but I'm gonna be able to move into the new building I mentioned earlier soon, but I still have to work on getting better equipment. I plan to buy some more mics, and a bigger firewire interface right away.
  7. Here are a few shots of my "one room" setup. http://www.adigitalmus.net/StudioPics/Studio2007/ Dave M. might recognize something he sold me a few years ago Scott I'm doing the same thing in a big concrete building. How much of a difference do those drum shields make? I am making a little computer, mixing, and monitoring booth, and soundproofing the heck out of it so headphone work and playback will be easy, and I might make some sort of drum shield too. But otherwise I'm gonna have instruments and stuff everywhere and stick studio foam everywhere, and make some soundcatchers until I get a ceiling dropped in, right now all there is is rafters.
