  1. I bought my FG-335 in early 1975 in a small music shop in Southampton (UK) It cost me
  2. carlos guitars are a dirty little secret..... Yeah, not a bad little box at all. Kind of like the Yamaha Dynamics in that regard.
  3. Either will be fine though there's more demand for the Nippon Gakki units. Just make sure the neck does not need a reset. If the neck is good a set up is reasonably inexpensive and will be worth it.
  4. I've heard of a 410, a 410A and a 410E, not an A/E. The straight 410 was probably about $175.00, the A about $275.00 and the E about $300.00 street prices back then. Stick the serial number here and let us know what it says. The serial number should be on a cross brace, just under the soundboard and toward the neck when you look into the sound hole.
  5. ... after having played (and buying) a larivee J-09, i relized the depth of my mistake. granted i paid a bit more for the larivee, it was very well worth the extra cash. i also have a 1970 yamaha fg-180 (an absolute BEAST of a guitar) and recently i got an fg 345ll (1973 model). of my guitars, the zager is the one i like and play the least. .... Welcome. I also have a pair of Yamahas, a FG150 and a FG411S. Love them both though the FG150 is due for a neck reset. Love 'em. Yammies get a lot of love around here, as do Laris.
  6. Looks good. I see it has a zero fret. The sound board looks to be 2 pieces, matched and the back is certainly interesting. Looks to be a matched 2 piece from a huge burl.
  7. I'm not sure about the sound box size making a difference or not and I don't know how close in size they actually are, they certainly look to be about the same volume. There may be some tonal changes in the design but I think the main difference is in the holes. When I step up in quality I'll be looking for an A body with f holes.
  8. Well, this thread got me to drag out the mando. It's a cheapy but cuts pretty good.
  9. ... Sadly, my fingers are just too large and clumsy for the mandolin Two finger chords....It may be cheating but it works. Get 'em here!
  10. Price range? Ya know, I got to thinking. Go to Janet Davis Music and look around. They have great prices on instruments and parts, including banjos, resos, dulcimers & on & on.
  11. If the firetruck is a bit on the light side I'm sure you can figure out how to add ballast. From the looks of it, you'll have about 7" of extension. This one looks better to me.

  15. I dug this out of the archives. It's an old Hoyt Axton tune. Lion in the Winter Recorded into stereo cassette deck. Mic on vocal and one on guitar and the guitar pickup was, if I remeber right, blended in too. The song was played to Ardour to get the wav file and I used Audacity to convert to mp3. No processing of any kind, other than the coversion. It's raw as performed.
  16. You could also just post your new setup and critique and link back to the origianl setup. That way folks know what you started with, and the ensuing upgrades.
  17. That video screwed with my monitor, changing the colors and contrast. Fortunately it all came back. Dude, "white men can't dance".
  18. Originally posted by Gonkulator Not much to critique. The vocal needs a bit more bluesyness (yeah, like I know blues) but that's it. Thanks for the listen. I'll pass that along to Dale.
  19. This is from the St Patrick's Day gig with Somebody's Son, recorded live. I've done nothing to the file except upload it to the computer and encode to mp3. Big Legged Woman. Constructive criticism is appreciated.
  20. Steps to take; 1) pick up phone book. 2) look in yellow pages for carpet cleaners. 3) Dial found number. 4) Wait for carpet guy to come. 5) Show carpet guy screw up. 6) Turn red as carpet guy rolls on the floor laughing.
  21. Really cheap way to go. You can even dub on it, probably... Maybe 30 bucks at a garage sale or thrift store. Nothin' to build either....
  22. Heh, with that kind of attitude I'd go ahead with the credit card dispute and let the bastid fight it.

It's possible that the Number isn't in FEDEX because it's onthe truck I suppose, but I kinda doubt it. If it arrives, then I will drop the dispute. We'll see.... -Todd A. Don't forget that if you check status before the driver got back to the terminal to download the scanner it won't show up in their system. You likely won't see anything there until the next day.
