  1. I'm afraid that those kind of people work everywhere. Intelligence or knowledge of the product(s) being sold isn't required for employment unfortunately. Yeah your right Its such a dumb statement .... I mean you can burn CDs through Itunes(which is even available on the PC)
  2. Of course, there are some alternative plug-ins to use in Mac with my Cubase 4, but who has the 1000$ to shell out for such stuff And no, even the pirate versions are not available yet... Yeah it seems like pirated software for Apple is much tougher to come by..for obvious reasons Well I went over to Circuit City yesterday for the Macbook and it turns out they don't even carry them in the stores. So the clerk(High school dope) goes "So why do you want an Apple?" I informed him I am going to be recording on it He then says "Well you should get a Windows laptop" I then told him that every computer in his store comes with Vista and wasn't compatible with the recording software So he then tells me "Well if you get an Apple you wont be able to do things like burn cds on it, there really no software for it" I just laughed and said "Oh really, thats alright I'm going to record on it...im not going to do anything else" These are the type of salespeople they have working in the computer section.
  3. Sorry, I didn't catch on that you didn't have the PC yet. Did you try the Cubase website re compatability? From what I can find they just don't say anything about it...so its not really actually supported in any way. I did some googleing and it turns out Vista does work with the Cubase LE. Doesn't seem really stable from what I can tell so far....some people it works fine, some people cant use certain plugs ins and get errors with the program it self. It sound like a disaster waiting if I go with a PC Vista, looks like the Apple option is much safer.
  4. I don't know why everyone slams Vista. It works great for me. I use Cubase LE, TonePort, BAIB, etc. no compatability issues or driver searches. So far as LE saying only compatable with XP, perhaps it was produced before Vista. Try installing it and see if it works ... Thats interesting ..so it actually does work with Vista you say? Well the thing is I'm not going to buy a computer just to try and see if it works with the software.
  5. This is not true. Cubase LE works faster on Intel Mac than it does on an equivalent PC, even though it runs under Rosetta (i.e. is not a universal binary), since dual core processors are not supported with the Windows XP version. Although, in general, Cubase LE is the lame edition in the truest sense Ok cool Hey I'm a beginner here...just need to start out small laying tracks down
  6. Also cubaseLE is not compatible to MacIntels, to run it you would have to use XP. Anyway Steinberg products and Macs are not a good match. WTF? Is that true? For the requirements it says
  7. I'm to get a labtop for recording in a home studio tonight and I guess I haven't been paying attention to the computer market as of late but it seems every god damn computer comes with Vista.... I am using a Firepod and going to use the Cubase LE software that comes with it and it says only compatible with XP. I guess the only choices are now either to get a PC labtop and buy XP or go with an Apple since that is also compatible with Cubase LE. So I have some decisions now. Also I was reading a recording for dummies book and it says that you should use two hard drives...one for system files and one for audio files. I was never aware of that....is that really necessary? Lets say I was running a Apple 2.0GHz Macbook with 1 gig of memory...would that pose real problems with slowness? I worked with editing video before and it seemed fine with 1 hard drive in a PC.
