  1. First and foremost, the guitar has to be in tune, It also has to have had it's harmonics set up. Don't waste money on any old tuner... get a Peterson VS-1 virtual strobe tuner... I got one on Ebay for $80.00. I had the original Strobe Tuner and this one is better. You can set up harmonics and do VERY accurate tuning with it.
  2. It depends on what sound you are after... A strat is more versatile than a Les Paul, especially if it has two single coils and a humbucker. but, For the best of both worlds, I really think that the Strat with 3 single coils and a Les Paul would be a great start.
  3. Man, playing is a God given gift. I'll bet there isn't one theiving asshole that has made a career in music! I was once offered a stolen guitar. I told the dude that I wouldn't jeopardize my ability, no matter what! It's like Page and Trower's stolen guitars... if I ever got a chance to get my hands on them, I would do so only so that I could return them. Karma is nothing to fook with!
