  1. So far I'll have to say the Labor Day Sales have been pretty *meh*. :bor: The LABRSAVE seems to work with a lot of brands (but not Gibson) and was stackable with other codes like saveten1 (now expired). Try it with another code if you have one, I got a sweet condition 2 FSR Deluxe RRI for a little under $650 .
  2. LDS @ Fattone Guitars Use coupon code WORKHARD11 for 11% savings on all new stuff through Monday.
  3. LDS @ Tone Factor ‎10% Off this weekend! Coupon Code: LABOR10
  4. Victor Litz LDS List Some people have had good luck with VL, others not so good. It helps if you are local and can go to the store. There is probably only one of these for example: ZVEX BOX OF METAL List $- Sale $99.00
  5. Huh. If they are able to have another run of them built to sell at liquidation prices, that tells me that prices were overly inflated on the Touchpads when they were introduced. You don't make another run to blow them out at liquidation prices if you aren't going to make a profit on them. Who really knows the answer to that question. Just as plausible is that since the product line was written off the corporate P&L sheet, the ROI is no longer an issue and they can sell them for a hefty profit only considering production and distribution costs.
  6. George Jetson, Han Solo didn't like his Goldtop due to the black back. He said he will be selling his for 999 w/shipping. He has a thread on this forum. Crazy in my opinion. Guitar looks awesome! I paid $899 w/shipping, for a no-owner guitar it is an absolute steal at that price. Maybe I'll make an offer he can't refuse....
  7. Okay, realize these are full bore sunlight photos designed to demonstrate the finish is not painted. I didn't enhance them or retouch other than crop them. This is an angle shot that clearly shows the grain through the translucent finish. I suspect they are using an oxblood stain here because it looks a lot like my Oxblood Flying V. Black for all intents and purposes, but deep, deep red under a carbon arc lighting. This one shows what it mostly looks like, but again it is shot in full sunlight bearing down on it from just a few feet away. It looks pretty close to the MF picture I think, so no misrepresentation, no military industrial complex conspiracy theory, just a really dark stain that looks black except under the most extreme lighting conditions. In case anyone is not into the whole dark black saga, a picture the rest of us can enjoy: I love this guitar and I will buy anyone's who isn't satisfied with it once they get it and play it.
  8. Alesis iO iPad Dock $125 at Hello Music after code HM25AUG You can connect you guitar to Amplitube or GarageBand and use a midi controller. It's like buying the iRig and iMidi all-in-one for less money. Plus it looks like it has a boatload of other input and output features.
  9. Last night when I got home I put the DCGT side by side with my JB Studio. It *does* look different and a lot like the picture someone posted here. I held it up to the strongest incandescent light I could find and the finish is not opaque. If you tilt it, you can just barely see the wood grain through the finish on the back. When I get home today I'll take it out into the sunlight and see if I can get a good picture of it.
  10. yea, imagine if someone was dying for a black back and passed. then they lost a sale. i dont think it was a scam or anything. maybe they got a lot of returns on them cause of wrong description Mine was definitely not a return, factory sealed. I personally love the black and gold look, it is exactly what I wanted.
  11. I'm pretty sure I will end up keeping the GT as well, it's at my work, I didn't go in today, so I will check it out tomorrow. I just picked my GT up at work today. It is exactly as shown on the MF website. It says "dark back" on the box, but it is in fact a solid black back and neck. Sort of like a Joe Bonamassa P90 DC LP. Now all I have to do is put black covers on the pickups and mismatch the knobs.
  12. Translation: "I don't want to be bothered with taking care of this for you" I got $100 of yesterday's deal. They can do it if they want to, I guess the challenge is finding someone that wants to... I pretty much have written off the automated M123 price match. Going forward, I will be calling and hanging up until I find the right CSR. I suspect that the emails go to a virtual call center in some far off corner of the world. I was very happy with the human customer service I got yesterday at M123, but maybe I just lucked out.
  13. Yeah, a bunch of dang soothsayers we are It's only 1:53 AM my time, but I woke up and had to check to see if we'd guessed it right. Looks kinda like a graham cookie with icing don't it? Every once and a while a hunch turns out to be right, I guess. Don't forget to try to get M123 to do a price match to make it $899, when they open this morning. I don't think the SDotD looks like that picture though. The pickup rings are black, the switch tip is white, it looks like an ebony board like the other Classic White LP's have and the description says it has a dark back. The pictures of the other colors on the MF website look like it is actually a black back. The white with light back does sort of look like an iced cookie. I think it needs that black back to make it pop. The DC Classic Exclusive on Gibson's website might be the one, but the MF site said their model is a limited-run. Your picture and the others on the Gibby site are supposed to be a "dark back". Wasn't that RD Standard that blew out a couple of weeks ago also listed as an Exclusive on the Gibson website? From the MF website: "The Les Paul Double Cutaway celebrates this popular model in a limited-edition guitar with special appointments. This limited run of Gibson Les Pauls is available in three finishes: ebony, bullion gold and classic white with a dark back and neck." Of course the pics on the MF website aren't even internally consistent. Look at the GT, one pic has a light back and aged switch tip, the other has a dark back and white one. Also, I think they are talking about Burstbucker Pro pickups, unless anyone else has actually heard of the "Rhythm Pro" pickup by Gibson.
  14. I decided this was a good opportunity to try one out. But if tomorrow the HB version is on SDOTD, I may have an aneurysm trying to figure out what to do. I'm doubtful of that since they have all three colors still in stock and the SDotD was the last batch of GTs. I did notice that the White HB (w/ ebony board) is marked down to the level of the pre-SDotD GT, so maybe they will blow that one out. Thanks for the congrats, BTW.
  15. In my experience, and the experience of others who have posted this same message; if you enter any text in the "Comments" field the form fails and you will not get the instant Auto Reply or the follow-up quote. You have to leave that field blank or the form buggers. If you do the form right, you will get an instant auto-reply in your email. That makes it hard (if not impossible) to match a SDOTD through the form, as the discount is added in the cart and not on the item page. The only person I've seen get SDOTD matched is Ssjif, and I am pretty sure he did it by phone. I bet it's a long shot on this Gibby, but hey go for it and report back. I left the comments blank, it still didn't go through. I just now called it in and got the match - 10%. That finally put me over the edge, happy birthday (next week) to me......
  16. I think the only question is that one can score a Goldtop Tribute for $750, so is this one worth the extra $250. Better finish, yes, better select woods, yes, better case, yes - I think it's - it's - distracting me this morning. Better higher fret access... bound body and neck...
  17. I'm pretty sure SDotD would get filed under 'closeout' for the purpose of their exclusions. But like I said, it is certainly worth a try. I sent my request earlier this morning... I didn't get any message on the webpage that my price match request had been sent, it just faded away. Likewise no email confirmation that it had been submitted, is that the way it works at M123 now?
  18. That is worth a shot, but Stupid Deal of the Day type deals are supposed to be excluded form their price match policy. "45 Day 110% Low Price Guarantee We guarantee the lowest price - not only when you buy, but for 45 days after your purchase as well. If you find the identical item, in stock and advertised for less at any authorized U.S. dealer (auction web sites excluded), we will refund you 100% of the difference, as well as an additonal 10% of that difference. This guarantee does not apply to discontinued, special order, blemished, damaged, closeout, open box, Factory Restock item or auction items." They may try to weasel out of it, but the SDotD doesn't fit any of their "stated" exclusions.
  19. Jetson, Try the M123 110% price match. They have it for $1999.00. Thanks, I already sent an automated one earlier this morning, they are still closed. If I could snag it for an $900 price match, I am definitely pulling the trigger. At $1000 I am still on the fence. I was hoping for 10% coupon to skip all of the price match drama at M123.
  20. That's a sweet guitar, does anyone have a code that works on it?
  21. I might pick some up. For $6.50, if they suck, I'm not out much. Thanks! You're welcome. I'd love to see pics of your axe and your impression of the decals. Everyone that I know that has tried them has loved them. I've not taken the leap because I'm too impatient and the process looks pretty intricate to align them all perfectly and make it look professional. The youtube video on the tree of life application makes me want to scream.
  22. Call me crazy, but I like the black one better. I'm thinking of actually pulling the frets and adding trapezoid inlays when I get mine. Hi Crazy, you might want to give these a spin before you break out the Dremel...http://www.inlaystickers.com/servlet/the-143/epiphone-gibson-fret-neck/Detail
