  • Yamaha HS Series Studio Monitors Now in White

    By HC News |

ANAHEIM (January 23, 2014)—Yamaha today introduced white models of the second-generation of HS Series studio monitors at the 2014 NAMM Show. White versions of the 5” HS5 W, 6.5” HS7 W and 8” HS8 W provide users with a broad range of monitors that can adapt to a wider variety of music production environments and aesthetics.

The HS Series features leading edge Yamaha technology to ensure greater reliability and flexibility while maintaining the signature flat response and accuracy that is ideal for nearfield monitoring. The entire lineup features Yamaha’s latest transducer technology, a high performance amp unit, low-resonance enclosures, flexible controls and connectivity, and leading-edge noise-reduction technologies. The series benefits from engineering and design innovations that contribute to the flat response, concise sound image, and distortion-free, high-resolution sound.

The HS5 W (5” cone and 1” dome tweeter), HS7 W (6.5” cone and 1” dome tweeter) and HS8 W (8” cone and 1” dome tweeter) are housed in bass reflex-type cabinets and reproduce tight low-end and smooth, high-frequency response. Two inputs, a balanced XLR and a ¼” phone jack, can accommodate a wide range of balanced and unbalanced sources, including mixers, keyboards and audio interfaces.

The low-resonance enclosures are constructed from a dense, resilient MDF for a damped acoustic response that is perfectly suited for reference monitors. Each monitor is also equipped with a unique, high-performance amp paired with each transducer. The coupled amp unit ensures that each HS Series speaker delivers high-resolution sound with exceptionally flat response across the spectrum.
Yamaha adopted its advanced noise-reduction technology to control and reduce the vortex at either end of the speaker port. This eliminates air vibrations inside that can cause unwanted noise in many studio monitors.
